Shine Eye Gravel Bar Dispersed Camping

Camping is about a mile off the highway on a gravel road. Road leads to a parking area with a privy and one drive-in site. I arrived on a Thursday evening and was the only one there. Could see only one established campsite with a fire ring and picnic table, but I guess you could camp anywhere along the river if you wanted. Had a few armadillos hanging out rooting in the leaves around the area, but didn't cause any issues.

This is a stunning spot if you can make down the steep and narrow dirt road. I wouldn’t suggest going with anything bigger than our 29ft motorhome. It’s truly magical location with minutes walk to the Buffalo River with views that will take your breath away. I suggest coming during the week, and weekend did get little busy and keep in mind there is only 1 site with picnic table and fire pit! Otherwise you might be spending the night on the turnaround which was tight to turn our rig. Rangers come almost everyday. Making sure you’re not burning trash, nor picking rocks from the river banks as they are property of the National Forest. We were reminded of that as our LO likes to collect rocks. Internet was pretty weak but enough to stream a movie at night.
