Only thing I want to add to the other reviews is there is a lot to do here. There is iron mountain off road rec area and you can leave right from the campground. There is fishing, kayaking and scuba diving right here. Golf course and bike trails. A 15 minute ride to Virginia, the next city over brings you to all the chain stores ... more

The campsite are large. The Wifi is the best we have had yet! During the day there are lots of off road noise and traffic going down the boat ramp but nights are quiet
Ahvwanderers would stay here again

The campground was very clean, quiet, and the sites weren’t too close together. We opted for full hookup so our daily rate is reflective of that. The women’s bathroom is older but clean and has a door code which was a nice safety feature. Our camp site was put in this year so the grass was sparse and a little muddy but the spectacular lake view more than made up for that. The campground has easy access to the Mesabi trail which is 100+ miles of paved bike trails. It also has easy access to A LOT of ATV trails.

The c/g is terraced with hillside sites, most with water views and some are lakeside overlooking a beach and boat launch. Trees provide shade, but not so many to obstruct the view. The c/g can be very busy on weekends.
Access roads are asphalt and sites grass/gravel. Water and elect. at sites with an easy access dump station. I did not look at restrooms and showers, but judging from the upkeep of the grounds and sites they should be fine. C/g management seemed well organized and on-top of the needs of the campers.
Located a short two blocks from downtown of Gilbert. The town is centrally located in MN's Iron Range near Virginia and Eveleth. Hibbing and Tower are easy 30 minute drives while Ely takes an additional 30 minutes. The whole area is surrounded with Parks and museums reflecting on the area's industrial past and present.
