No hookups, no cell service, but beautiful, quiet setting for a few days. The campground did have water and pit toilets…we did not use. There is not a dump station. The dirt site was a bit unlevel but spacious! The location was great to see what the Black Hills had to offer. We loved the area.

Within 30 minutes of Mt. Rushmore National Memorial. Roads can be considered narrow, but helps to slow folks down a bit. Pit toilets could have used a service, but everything was operational.

This campground cost $5 per night. Thank you access pass. This is a great campsite. Picked a site that had full sum for most of the day. Spacious sites. Great view of the lake.

We were in Smokey loop (the first one to the right) and it was beautiful and quiet, but there was absolutely no cell signal at all on any of the four carriers.
It was pretty shady, but solar might work depending on your site.

Hosts were nice and you can move your site if there are available first come first serve sites. Firewood can be purchased on site and can be delivered right to your site (a nice touch).
I was able to get internet with a booster on AT&T only in the early mornings before 7am. After that it was not usable even for a text in or out.

Being in the area out of season, we were glad to find a place open year-round. Arrived late, read the sign, found our site, setup, filled out the form, inserted cash, and dropped it in the metal post up front. Done. We saw the manager doing his round that same night but didn’t speak until the next morning.
We only planned to stay one night but the weather was perfect. It was too nice to leave. No cell service. Nothing. Just dry camping with the family for wonderful memories.
We saw maybe 10 other campers at the park. Effectively empty and just as quiet.
Outhouses were available but we didn’t use them.
I would absolutely love to stay here again.

We’re kayakers, so we found a site with direct access to the lakeshore. Most sites are huge and spaced far apart. Dogs loved having space and swimming nearby! Very quiet campground and everyone was very respectful of quiet hours during our stay. Firewood $6/bundle from the hosts. Pit toilets. Water available from spaced spigots throughout. We wished there was a dump station on site, but there is one at an RV park about 2 miles away for a $10 fee. There is no ATT cell phone signal in the campground unless you have a booster. We set ours up and we got just enough signal to text only. Only other downside we could see is that some sites are sloped and leveling can really be a challenge. The campground itself is located perfectly between Rapid City, Deadwood/Sturgis and keystone/Mt Rushmore. This is a great place to get away from the crowds at the end of the day and there are several winery/brew houses just a few minutes down the road in Hill City!

“Can I help you?” a man, the campground host apparently, asks as we approach.
“Do you have any open spots?”
“Park here and come up to the desk,” he says, despite a large yellow sign asking us to stay in our vehicle.
“These spots are left,” his wife and cohort says with a shortness, her N95 mask hanging from her right ear. “Which do you want?”
“Can I go take a look?”
“Yes,” she sighs, “but don’t put anything there. If a local comes, they know which spot they want and will take the good ones.”
We score 104, a shady patch of Pondo forest that still allows light to charge our solar. Our neighbors are not close but certainly visible, especially the one with the massive Trump 2020: Make Liberals Cry Again flag flying 20’ in the air.
The corners of the vault toilets play graveyard to those flies not still buzzing around, toilet paper scattered just outside, perhaps by foraging squirrels who thought twice. Cell service is absent. The lake is beautiful, with a relatively large sandy area where kids splish splash the morning away as we head for parts less populated.
