We liked how well they kept the park. Most the sites are well-spaced. Lots of trails. Staff are really nice. It was quiet except for an occasional train. Great coffee shop close by: Delos.
Take the Eco Tour of the South Mississippi. Captain Kathy was great.
All in all it was a positive experience.

We spent 2 nights at Shepard State Park. Great value and great park. Site 12 is waterfront (bayou/marsh) The site is wide and mostly shaded. The park is clean, and offer lots of amenities like hiking trails, disk golf, archery range and a small boat ramp. We would return if we were in the area again.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of January / beginning of February in 2022 and were pleasantly surprised by the nice long pull thru site with water and power for $18.00! Also with what all the park has to offer - load of little hiking trails, archery (which we just walked by), a beautiful raised boardwalk over the marsh and a fenced dog park! The dog park was pretty wet, but we were able to throw the ball for our Lab. The trails were all cool and just meandered around. The campground is set up in a figure 8 - the lower loop has more greenery and palmettos. Site 15 in the lower loop was my favorite! Reservations can be made online and they do offer a really low monthly rate. Am uploading a video here on Campendium - a campground info video - might be helpful!

A nice and very reasonably priced place if you're looking for something in the area. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to stay here, but it's a fine state park. A lot of the major trails were water logged while we were here and by the end of the week, we'd walked most of what we could, but we still enjoyed our stay here. The site was quiet and pretty private. My husband and I both worked using hotspot cell data while we at the park. On Verizon, I had 1.5-3 MB up from our site and 24-34 down. I'm not sure what my husband had with ATT but I believe it was fine for work and video calls.

It’s not the best place we’ve stayed. Our site wasn’t horribly level, but we managed with a few leveling blocks.
We had originally booked site 5 which was a pull through.
They moved us to site 22 because a camper wanted to stay longer in 5.
We didn’t care because we weren’t familiar with the area, but site 22 is a stepped site. The table area is down 3 steps.
Not the end of the world, just stinks when we have a van with flip down tables and such, and can’t use any of it with the picnic table or fire pit.
Ultimately the lady at the office did us dirty 🙃
Spots were clean and the restrooms were clean even though they are definitely old.
Planet fitness has better showers, but these are manageable if in a pinch.

Several very large pull through sites that can accommodate very large rigs. Extremely quiet and private. Monthly rates are $360 for electric and water. Dump station. Tight getting in past old office but then it opens up. Come in from Landier Rd even with weight limit bridge. Low hanging trees and branches gps directions.
