It’s probably better the further you go Into the forest.
The place that’s listed is the first place off the highway.
Don’t be there if rain is on the way. The place will turn into a huge mud bog. It’s of for a quick over night stay.
But hey. At least it’s not Salt Lake City. It’s like Oakland CA with snow.

Verizon service was awful and spotty. The more that came in, the worse it was. I have no idea where people are saying 3 bars for service unless they had a booster.
It is anything but level here so be prepared. It is clay soil so it gets gummy if it rains.
It has assorted trash that people can't seem to take with them. Cows made a visit but didn't bother anyone. We moved them along out of the area.

When I arrived it looked like one group was using multiple sites to unload their dirt bikes and then used the loop as their own racetrack. Others in the far corner shot guns well into the night. The views were not that spectacular and were certainly not good enough to warrant an extended stay.

My first impression was the views are amazing, easy to find, very windy at times, but was very happy and so was my dog! Upon walking and getting a better look, I found several disturbing sights. 1). As shown in the photo, at the fire ring adjacent to me, the remains of a deer, a hind leg glow he’d as it’s not deer hunting season in May); 2) a bunch of shell casings, 3) trash left in fire pits, rusty metal, 5). What appears to be large pieces of fresh deer carcass tossed along the fence (see pics); and lastly, the closed gate sign has been used for target practice. It’s a real shame. Otherwise this place is beautiful and thankful for a beautiful resting stop in our travels. The snow capped mountains are stunning.
I wasn’t able to get level, I would choose a different spot next time now that I know the lay of the land.

Cell signal was poor for Verizon 1 bar but ok for ATT 2 bars but fair speeds. Big rig friendly.

Open space that’s grassy so there’s ample parking for lots of people. Stayed 1 night. No mosquitoes! There’s flys in the day, and very little shade so it’s hot.

Just a large open field
I got here at 8pm on a Monday (8/9/2021) and there were 4 other groups, including one which was a cluster of RVs that seem to have been there a while
And yet , we were able to occupy far corners of the field and be quite a ways away
I did not see those cows other reviews talked about
Also was cleaner ; ie no human trash; than most of my previous dispersed camping experiences

Only 2 trees and i found a level spot to the east of that tree (a little shade from the afternoon sun) i was there end of June the sun was hot and my a/c would complain so i had to turn off let it cool down then start up again. Sun set was well after 9pm. So the lone tree helped.
A small herd of black cattle walked through morning and evening. No threat...lots of bellowing though. A few calves too. People went in and out each day/night. Horses and atvs too. Tenters and RVers. But mostly overnighters. There is enough room to spread out. Lol but only 2 trees to help shade. I enjoyed watching and hearing the cows.
