Space between sites allowed for privacy, trees and shrubs blocked most view. Elk bugled one night, sounded right outside of our rig. The hosts were very helpful, noticed that I had paid for an extra night, while as a senior we get half price. So, although we had intended to stay one, we relaxed and stayed two. Could have only paid 14,50. If desired one night. Beautiful scenery, pristine bathrooms, places to walk our dog easily. No hook ups, good cell service. drinking water available, our hose reached the faucet. Didn’t see a dump station. Definitely will return.

I ended up at # ?? ...some things are best kept a secret, lol. It did end up filling up with rigs by 4 pm. Donna then came around and welcomed and collected the fee. Campendium says it is $15. a night. I was charged $29. a night. I see other reviews on here where people are getting charged all different rates! Wonder why the price isn’t set ?? Anyway, Donna was super friendly and educated me about a possible Bear siting, yikes! The campground is super clean and groomed quite well. I only used a public toilet once but the room and toilet were extremely clean! There were a variety of rigs as well as tents, and a good group of people in the section I was in. Camp cooking and campfires every night! I will definitely stay here again in the future! Cell service Visable 3 bars!

Great location on the Rim, outstanding hosts (Donna and Sammy). Cleanest bathrooms, raked sites. Most sites have some slope, tho paved. Some pull-thrus. While there is water, no way to connect hoses (or room to even do so: basically meant to fill a jug or a pail to douse campfires.

My husband and I bought our first travel trailer a month ago and wanted to make sure we didn’t have to battle for a spot and could practice the whole set up, leveling, etc. So I picked Sharp Creek for our first run and am so glad I did! It was easy in and out. Clean campsite with a ton of trees. Spaces spread out...couldn’t even see other sites from our spot. The bathrooms were the cleanest I’ve been to at a campground...typical pit toilets that scare me but clean to make it less intimidating. The hosts were very nice and came around with firewood for sale often. There was water on site to fill up a jug or bin to bring back to your site. Christopher Creek is about 5 min away and Willow Springs Lake was about 10 min away to give you something extra to do. Would definitely come again.

He was very good and called around and found this camp ground about 7 miles east. Arrived about 30 minutes later. Very quiet with only a few tents and one 5th wheel. Dry camping, lovely views and very clean. Great a day or two, but no facilities to speak of.

Very quiet. Easy to get to. Paved fairly level sites with picnic tables and fire boxes in open ponderosa pine habitat. 5970' elevation. A very friendly and helpful campground host when I was there. It's bear country, so don't leave food out.
This is the classic "it is what it is." Excellent Verizon, good ATT cell service.
Except for the fact that I had a flat tire, this was a real enjoyable stay.

This is an approximately 28 site campground spread over many acres. With a park this size, you would think there would be 50+ sites but somehow they made this one just right and the majority of the spots are spacious. Of the 28 or so sites, at least 10 are first come, first serve. I stayed in the Juniper Loop, site #25 (non-reservable site) and would definitely stay there again. There is one loop for just tent campers. You can't go wrong with either loop. No showers. Vault toilets and water faucets located throughout the park. NO DUMP STATION. The only dump station nearby is at Ponderosa CG which is about 10 miles west. However, when I was at Ponderosa, the dump station was closed. Additionally, the Ponderosa dump station is fee only, approximately $10.00. There is a free dump at the Giant Station in Payson which is fairly accessible.
No real hiking trails from the campground, although there is an old forest road on the backside of Juniper Loop that accesses the Group Campground. However, there are other hikes, including the popular Horton Springs near the Tonto Creek Campground (approximately 5 miles west). This is a fun, easy to moderate, out and back trail that follows the water and is great for hiking with a dog or even mountain biking. Since it is a popular trail, try going on the weekday. Visit the Mogollon Visitor's Center which is about 5 miles west and there are also other trails across from the Visitor's Center.
