This place appears to be abandoned . You probably could camp here. There are no envelopes to leave money. There are no marked camp spots. Many of the trees in the area have been cut down and burned. I don’t know why they didn’t just close the gate.

We were here in January 2020 and the campground was about 1/2 full. We met some great campers and the camp host was very knowledgeable about the area. No electric or water. One pit toilet for the campground. A lot of shady spots so you need to look to find a good place for solar. It had some good trails for hiking. We did not have ... more

One pit toilet for the campground. A lot of shady spots so you need to look to find a good place for solar. It had some good trails for hiking. We did not have cell service of Sprint or AT&T.

Title just about says it all. The approach was rough and filled with potholes after several days of rain in the area. We saw about 30 sites but they were gigantic. Good mix of open or shaded sites. Not all sites had tables. Were surprised to see a camp host. we did not see the pond. One pit toilet.

Stayed 4 nights at end of Jan. 2019. Was basically deserted (was during shutdown, but trash and toilet was still serviced). Only amenities is a (clean) vault toilet and bear-safe trash bins. USFS site states potable water available, but I couldn't find it. Lots of signs about bears in area, but none personally sighted. Tents ... more

Only amenities is a (clean) vault toilet and bear-safe trash bins. USFS site states potable water available, but I couldn't find it.
Lots of signs about bears in area, but none personally sighted. Tents and pop-ups probably not a good idea.
Several retail shops 1 1/2 to 2 mi. north (gas, convenience, laundromat, small grocery, cafe, outfitter) so not as remote as appears while in campground.
