Shaniko Ghost Town Campground

Shaniko Ghost Town is in the middle of nowhere right off of Highway 97. We pulled in and spoke with a lady who is something of a caretaker, she said we were welcome to spend the night, lots of good paved and unpaved alternatives. We chose a nice grassy spot across from a big covered shelter with a dozen or so picnic tables underneath. Got set up and then went and explored the ghost town, much of which was open and available see, including an old shop full of vintage Chryslers and the old town jail. We literally had the whole town to ourselves, very quiet and peaceful night. We left a donation in the box at the fire house, and put 40 gallons of diesel in th RV - a little higher $ than in a bigger town but seemed like the right thing to do. Highly recommend as an overnight resource!
