“no potable water”

Reviewed Oct 16, 2018

Overall Rating

As a stop on a longer road trip we reserved a full hookup site. On arrival we saw a sign "water not potable". We asked (the very nice lady) at the booth but she did not know what was wrong with the water. We were fortunate that we had a least some water in the tank but not pleased to have paid for full hookups but weren't about to hook up the water to our system. The County folks should at least note the absence of good water and drop the extra cost for full hookup vs. electric only. Being a weeknight in October the place was deserted and quiet but a place I would go out of the way to visit.

“Nice escape from the Tooele desert”

Settlement Canyon is a really fun place where you can get into pines and aspens just a few minutes out of Tooele. There are a few hikes, and I highly recommend 'left hand fork', it's my favorite place in Tooele county. In the spring there's a little stream running down the main canyon, and Settlement Reservoir is a popular place to fish. There's also one or maybe two playgrounds.

You have to pay $3 just to enter with a vehicle, $15 to dry camp (a few random spots along the road) or $25 for power and water hookups. They close the entry gate from dusk to 8 a.m. Honestly it's a little overpriced and there's usually a lot of people on weekends, but it's clean and fun there isn't much local campground competition.

Cell service is low especially the farther back you go, but boosted up to a couple bars of LTE on Verizon and ATT.
