I arrived after reservations closed. Managed to get the last spot by the bay. Absolutely stunning view at sunset. Highway noise is not great but I was not woken up by it. I felt the price was fair even for dry camping.

The sound travelled down into the camp ground we we were close the bay.
Our Verizon service was good and we were texting and sending pictures, so pretty good service we thought.

This campsite’s fees fluctuate depending on the season- it was $20 for a drycamping spot in February. Given its proximity to Seattle and the location in the rain shadow, it’s a decent option to get away from a rainy Seattle weekend.
Pros- roomy campsites with some privacy
Clean facilities (heated bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks; showers for a fee)
Four bars of T-Mobile LTE cell signal
Cons: the view of the bay is pretty but mostly obstructed by trees
A bit on the pricier side for dry-camping
Gate gets locked when the park closes so you have limited flexibility to leave or enter the park at night
Verdict: would return to get away from the rainy Seattle weather but will probably try out my roster of free campsites around Port Angeles first

We stayed one night on a weeklong trip. The majority of the sites are closed for the winter. In the open loop, sites with services are close together and several were muddy, including ours. There were four or five other campers in the park, so it was certainly not crowded. I imagine in the summer it is quite crowded and all the tree cover would be welcomed in the summer heat. In order to have space between us and other campers, we ended up in a muddy spot. We walked down to the brand new dock and viewing area. There we watched a sea lion swimming and our dog walked in the water. I walked along the Olympic Discovery Trail in the morning. It runs through the park on its way to the coast.
Amenities include horseshoe pits, swing set, a small interpretive center and hiking. The bathrooms are heated and there is a shower that takes tokens, which are available at the Pay Station. The park is directly next to Highway 101 so road noise is present at all times. Be sure to bring cash or check as no credit cards are taken for Drop Ins.

I've been coming here for 10 years. The best staff I have ever experienced at a State Park. Currently the boat launch is secured for much needed reconstruction, however it would have been nice to also specify the dock was secured as well. I brought fishing poles to go fishing, but the entire road is closed, not the notice that the park gives. I camp with a big Gold-wing Motorcycle, the condition of the lower loop road should also advise motorcyclists as to the deplorable conditions of the road. During the current construction the drive routes are reversed, and camping with a fully load bike and entering sites from the reverse angel is treacherous.
That being said. After negotiating a tight parking experience. I opted to walk to the registration office to purchase firewood. As a Vet with driving disability, caring two bundles of wood was not an option. Thank you park service to staff delivering my wood to my campsite (#71) shortly afterword.
Aside from packing fishing-poles and gear I couldn't use because the entire road was secured. Have 7 Cedars Casino 1.5 miles away ensures that this is still one of the best State Camping Grounds that exist. And the proximity of John Wayne Marina is another plus. My name is Mike Noster my email noster@tscnet.com if you have any questions

Thank goodness slow season we were able to swap to site 29. We fit, barely, thanks to my husbands great driving skills we made it work. There is no sun for the solar to work so have ran generator more than planned. Really cute here, accessed discovery trail with our bikes to ride into town. Some hiking in park but not as much as we thought. Super clean, definitely freeway noise but quiets down in the evenings. Did not use or check out showers. Would stay here again but for shorter length of time.

We stayed here to explore Olympic National Park and it worked out well for us as a jumping off point. The town of Sequim is unique, it’s the lavender capital of the US! There is a laundromat in Sequim and just about any box store that you could need. Verizon wasn’t great here 3.69 download, 0.12 upload when I tested it. ATT got us through the work week, 6.13 download, 15.7 upload boosted.
