“Great park, free camping, showers, pool, bathrooms.”

Reviewed Apr 17, 2018

Overall Rating

This is a great little park. There are free "sites" to just pull in by the sides of the park. Some are in trees, some are in the open. There are a few play grounds, a river you can swim in, a pool with shower facilities that are open only during the summer and cost $2.00. There are mens and womens bathrooms, frisby golf nets, and c... more

If you like being totally off grid this is for you -we had no over the air tv, parked under a tree so no satellite reception (our fault), 1 bar 1x which we finally got a text out to kids to give location for the night, and no wifi. After this small negative part we do love the area. Feel completely safe and a beautiful view of the wa... more

“Nice stop off in a quaint town ”

Reviewed Mar 21, 2018

We stopped here after leaving Houston and the quiet, slow pace of this town was a relief! There are plenty of places to park any size rig along the river with nice views. A friendly town if you have time to explore a bit. We walked up to the grocery about a half mile away from the park and had a Subway sandwich. The park has no fac... more

Stayed two nights and we canoed from south llano state park back to Junction. It’s a lovely paddle. The park is clean and feels safe. Lots of families having picnics, at the playground, and fishing. We met the park manager and he is a really nice guy.

“Nice to open your door up to the river in the morning! Very close to facilities. ”

Reviewed Mar 01, 2018

We stopped here on our way out west in late Jan/early Feb. It was very easy to find and access. The washrooms were frozen when we got there, but they do have them. Some disc golf and walking paths on the other side of the river. The Ranger was really friendly and gave us advice about what to do in the area. We drove, but you could ba... more

Great overnight spot. As others said, lots of cars pass through the park for no apparent reason, but the police cruised through several times as well so we felt safe. No Verizon service but Good satellite service.

“Living on the edge!”

Reviewed Feb 05, 2018

Stopped here on our way to Big Bend. This park is pretty cool. The camping area is right on the edge of a small cliff that goes down to the river. Some sites are closer to the water. Park employees have come through a few times and stopped once to chat and make sure we're doing okay. There's a playground, sports fields, picnic shelters... more

We arrived after dark but found a pull off that was pretty level and with plenty of room so we didn’t need to unhook the tow. There were people near the playground and several cars driving through the park so weren’t real sure how safe it was. But by 10 pm it was quiet and we had no problems. In the morning we saw that here were sev... more

Second time we stayed here. See our review below. Everything still great EXCEPT for the crazy man who screamed obscenities all night and then started banging on the fence with a pipe about 3:00 a.m. at which time we called the cops. The local sheriff’s office was very responsive but he walked out to the middle of the small dam over th... more
