Editing my Q: we know we can't fill at the campground. So where is a good place to fill fresh water tank before we arrive?

The night we spent at Schoolhouse we didn’t need potable water, so I can’t be certain if it is available. If there is it would be near a bathroom. Because we needed a dump station we went to Cholla the following morning. Be sure you have adequate propane if you plan to stay a while. We got propane in Globe, It was at a Shell station just past Frys. Enjoy your time at the lake!

They have outside faucets at Schoolhouse Campground. You just can’t hook a hose to them. I would find water before I got there.

There was a fresh water spigot by the bathrooms in my loop. But it was not threaded, so your normal hose will not work.

There is a freshwater tap in the campground next to the bathrooms.
