We were lucky to find a spot during the week. There were only 4 empty ones, and we arrived early in the afternoon. Clean campground, nice site, and very quiet overnight. Cell service was great. Can’t believe this hidden gem is free!

The condition of the facilities (bathroom, camping) was spotless. You're basically nestled in the middle of the Sawtooth Canyon. I would definitely stay here again.

Star gazed on a clear night. Good Verizon connection. 1.5 miles off Hwy247. No signage at turnoff. Used GPS; accurate. Note @16-17 miles south from Barstow. On west side of highway. Info boards on gravel road to campground. There may be a campground on other side of road. Rock climbing mecca.

The other comment we'd make is the rather strange distribution of campsites. Most are in groups of 2 or 3 which would be great if we were camping with a friend but it means you may be a little closer to your neighbor than need be.
The access road is in dire need of grading... I hate washboard!!
Other than these points we had a great time hiking around the hills and watching the rock climbers.

Excellent surrounding rocks to climb and explore. The pit toilets were very clean! These sites cannot be reserved and are first come first serve. Our only complaints are that there is no dumpster and there is a lot of broken glass around the sites.

Defined campsites with firepits, BBQ,and shaded picnic tables in every site. Surrounded by interesting rock formation popular with climbers. Extremely quiet and very clean. Also had pit toilets that were clean and toilet paper provided. Road in has a bit of washboarding but is only 1 1/2 miles on dirt.

Convenient access from 247. Climbers might want to stay for a few days. Some good bouldering and easy climbs. For Cell service, you might have to climb up some rocks! Or at least walk around from behind the biggest mounds. Vault toilets. No trash. No water. Come equipped! Sites have some sharded glass. Also some noise from overhead flights. Perhaps an air base nearby?

We are 25 feet and weren’t sure if we could land here, but lucked into a spot we could pull into and easily level without unhooking. The road in is not bad at all. A camper on their way out told us to not go all the way to the end as there was no turnaround. Never did figure out where they were talking about, but it did make us cautious. We did have fluctuating ATT service, but it worked very well. We will be back to explore the rocks!

Aggravating washboard road leads to limited awesome looking sites full of hipsters and tourists that don’t want to pay to visit. Oh, and also pretend rock climbers. Yucky.
