Satsop Center Campground

We stayed at the nearby Coho Campground but were told about the Satsop Center so we drove over to look at it too. It is very low priced. It is very rare that you can find a place with full hookups, showers etc. anywhere for so little, but this is in a beautiful forest The sites are close together more like an RV park but it is in the forest , so lots of walking trails and shade around. There is also tent sites and non-hookup sites for less. The campground is facing being decomissioned by the forest service though so if you want to see it survive the current hosts are asking that anyone who cares please go to change.org and sign their petition to "Save the Satsop" The forest service is also planning to do a clear cut in the nearby Coho Campground, which in my humble opinion would devistate the campground and make it far less beautiful. They are also withholding repairs on the Coho dumpsite which is why anyone wanting to use the dumpsite has to request assistance from the camp host because the water will not shut off properly and they have to shut off the main valve after every use.

We go up to Wynoochee Dam every summer to camp with our grandson. We all love it here. The camp hosts at Satsop Center and the Coho Campground are the kindess people you could ever hope to meet. They even have showers available at the satsop center for a very reasonable $3. Every morning the camp host goes from camp to camp on his quad to see how everyone is doing. They can answer all your inquiries and let you check in late as long as you are not waking up the whole campground. I love this place and will definitely keep going there.
