“Blissful Serenity”

Reviewed May 08, 2019

Overall Rating

We are driving 400 mile days and this was the perfect peaceful spot for a good night’s sleep.
Camp Hosts on site greeted us promptly.
Site was level.
Wooded but pruned well so our solar panels absorbed nicely.
It does take about 30 minutes to reach the park from 72 but it is well worth the extra time.

“Nice lakefront site ”

Reviewed Apr 07, 2019

Overall Rating

This campground was a bit of a surprise to us. It was much nicer than we expected. This side of Hickory Point campground was quiet. The other side seemed a little crowded and loud. There was only 2 showers. If you aren’t self-supportive there may be a wait for showers in the busy season. It was a little difficult to get to, but we were... more

“Beautiful park and lake”

Reviewed Aug 18, 2018

Overall Rating

We stayed in Deer Run Campground. It was just an overnight stay on the way to St Louis. It's one of those places that you regret only staying one night. The lake is simply stunning. The campground is well wooded, but the grass is well trimmed, the trees have plenty of clearance for our 13ft+ tall Class A. Backing into the site was easy... more

“Beautiful but Limited”

Reviewed Oct 12, 2017

Overall Rating

We loved the beauty and landscape of the park, with large open spaces and plenty of accessible lake area. The camping area “A” was well maintained with an on-site host who worked hard to keep things in great order. Plenty of hiking/walking areas, each campsite came with a picnic table and fire ring, many with large grassy areas adjacen... more

“campfires and capitol visit...”

Reviewed May 22, 2017

Overall Rating

Great campground close to Springfield for day trips in to the capitol and nighttime campfires. The top half of the Hickory Point loop is water front. Deer run is heavily wooded and shaded. Very modern and clean. All our neighbors were super fun to talk to. There is still a bunch of this park we were not able to explore. We ha... more
