“Unfortunately, A Disappointing Park!”

I was hesitant to make reservations here, and my worries came true!
I’m not sure when the c.g. “bio” pictures were taken, but they don’t depict the real thing.
The sites had overgrown trees, so unable to put our awnings out, ant mounds galore, grasshoppers everywhere, and the grass looked like overgrown weeds.
It appeared the c.g. allowed long term stays, but doesn’t enforce proper upkeep.

Some water hook-ups were shared. The sewer hookup for our site was located on the site next to ours!!! Can you imagine having your neighbors sewer hookup four feet from your front door?!?Gross!!

Finally, the road noise was horrible!! Truck noise all night/day long. I hate to say it but this park isn’t worthy of a stopover.

“This Is A Nice Little Park That The Owners Are Updating.”

Overall Rating

Sandy Bottom Campground may not look like much now, but the owners are fixing it back up.The bathroom/ shower room is new and very nice,along with the laundry room. The owner is putting in a little grocery store. The park is about 3 miles from Angosturs State Recreation Area. You are also about 45-50 minutes from Wind Cave NP, Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park. You are about 1 hour from Rapid City and 90 minutes from Wall Drugstore along with the Badlands NP.
This is a nice quiet campground even as close to the Hwy as you are, along with a very clean campground.
It is a husband and wife that have this small park(12-15 spaces) so it is nice to help out a small owner,we will stay here again if in the Hot Springs area.
