This was our second visit to Sand Hollow, first time for camping. Our first trip was to recon the park. The majority of the Westside Campground sites have no or limited view of the reservoir. Our site was paved and level with full hookup. Due to the proximity to St. George, Utah the cell service was 5G/3 Bars for all services. We used our AT&T Hotspot with our Winegard and had no latency issues on our YouTube TV (Go Knights Go). During our recon trip two years ago the reservoir was extremely low. During this visit it is at 100% so there is water skiing, Paddle Board and Kayak activity. There also is the OHV area so many of our fellow campers had their OHV. Check-in and access was fast and easy.

Dear Sand Hollow State Park,
We love you. You have been our oasis. Unfortunately, you do not love us back.
Each time we have visited, we have noticed more trash around the campground, campsites and especially in the firepits.
There has been an increase in dog poo as well. It is good that you provide poo bags, but the (4) garbage dumpsters are located at the dump station near the park entrance. This is roughly a mile from the campground!
We see there are many camp hosts throughout, but when you seek them out for assistance, you have interrupted their play time (or nap time). They are not friendly. We have never seen them doing their job.
Easy solutions:
(1) Put dumpsters next to the bathrooms.
(2) Find competent camp hosts.
For $50 a night, you should take more pride in the appearance of our state park.

Sand Pit CG is more suited for groups and is on gravel.
Lakeside CG is lovely, on asphalt adjacent to the reservoir and with hook-ups. This would have been my choice had there been availability.
Good reservation system, be sure and use it. Good dump site at park exit. Must love OHV vehicles though, they are everywhere, including along the shoreline. Great rentals: OHVs, paddle-boards, kayaks on site.
Best hiking is nearby at Quail Creek State Park - a great campground without all the OHVs.

This campground was beautiful with its freshly paved roads, clean bathrooms and showers and stunning water. It was however very busy with ORV enthusiasts and as a result louder than I prefer.

Great Location State Park... readily accessible to St. George, Hurricane and Zion. We used as a base for Zion. It is heavily used by ORV enthusiast. Very clean and well maintained park. Our site, 21, was in the farthest north area on top of the hill. Great views. There was a triathlon meet at the park on Saturday that was cool to observe the swimming and start of cycling from our site. The park handled the event well and it did not impede access to the park at all. If you prefer state parks to commercial, highly recommend Sand Hollow as base for SW Utah, "Dixie".
There is what looks like a huge Yogi Bear park under construction just north of Sand Hollow SP.

Views of the valley were excellent, though it was very windy when we were there.
Cell service on ATT and TMobile was good, with 48mbps down/40 up and 41/6 respectively with a roof mounted Pepwave antenna.

A storm was coming in when we arrived, so it was extremely windy, like 50-60mph gusts all night long. The storm cleared out and the next morning, it was still so windy that the sand in the air was reducing visibility. It was very unpleasant and I thought we were going to have to leave early. Then, it just stopped and was calm the rest of our stay. So, we got to enjoy the beach and beautiful views. They did charge us for our Jeep, which I asked for clarification because the website says that in that particular campground, only excess of 5 vehicles will be charged extra, but they still charged me extra for the 1.

We originally picked site 7, but the woman at the entrance informed us of construction and recommended 23 instead. I’m glad she did! We were up on the hill with a great view and it was very private. Our site hookups all worked perfectly and we had no problem getting level. My only complaint is that they close the gates at 9pm and you have to be back by then. This is a bit inconvenient. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again!

Great spot for RVs. Lots of space between you and the neighbors. Large park but doesn’t feel like it’s crowded. Access to swimming area. Friendly staff.
