Wow such negative reviews. I stayed here for about 3 weeks in Sept thru Oct 2020. It is a very nice spot. There are lovely cottonwood trees giving shade and despite being close-ish to a road is very quiet. There are lots of spots each with a concrete table with benches and usually 2 different firepits. Yes 2 firepits. One with just an old concrete drainage pipe on end and the other a proper pit with a grill. Trouble is that there seems to be a permanent fire ban in place.
Nobody came and checked on me or my friends, many people came and went with everything from a backpacker with a tent to big class A's. There was always room.
There are cows that will wander through but none of them disturbed me.
The town of San Antonio is a VERY small place with zero things you might need although there is a friendly post office which will happily take in general delivery. There is a bar or two with food and a fresh produce place. For everything else you will need Socorro which has a Walmart and just about anything you might want. Be warned they are fanatical on the masks.
Gas is cheapest at the southern end of town at the Conoco. They also let me fill up water and dump garbage a couple of times.
When you leave Socorro to return to your camp do NOT miss the exit. It is a long drive to turn around going south.
The trees do block the solar but mine still worked. Also there is a very steep little hill to get in and out so scope it out first especially if you have a big rig. All in all this is a lovely campground. It is quiet, secluded and although I feel sorry for the guy who lost his bike I felt quite secure there. I would definitely return and my friends all feel the same way.

Had a heck of a time getting turned around and out. Then I listened to mud and rocks flying off tires and hitting my RV for about 2 miles. This place could be nice if the city would clean it up a bit. Maybe put some gravel down. Till then I don’t advise anyone risking going down there in anything other than a Jeep..

I stopped here in October for a few nights on the way south from ABQ in order to visit Bosque Del Apache NWR and also the VLA radio telescope. Arrived on a Monday. On Saturday I returned from visiting the VLA and discovered my bike had been stolen. I only had it locked with a cable, which was my mistake. I had been intending to put a u lock on it but never did. From Mon. to Fri I was the only one there. I was gone most of the days to the Bosque. Most likely someone had spotted me there and grabbed my bike when I was gone. The way the park sits down below a levy, everything is hidden from view so it’s easy for someone to come in there to commit a theft. I will return to the area but would probably stay at one of the small rv parks. I usually boondock but now I would always wonder if I would return here after a day out and find my trailer broken into.
There is significant noise from the highway also, the grounds are pretty much a mess, needs a good cleanup. The road that drops down off the levy into the park is narrow, but I didn’t have a problem with it. I did get out and walk down to check for a site before driving down in there. The previous review that gave detailed instructions on turning past the yellow cattle guards and bearing to the righ immediately after turning off the highway was very helpful since there is not a sign with the park name on the highway.

Outside of not having any amenities, which we knew beforehand, the only problems were the mosquitoes and ants were bad. But when you’re camping......... We had the whole place to ourselves so that was nice. Definitely worth a return but maybe fall or early spring next time.

We have a 37 ft diesel pusher and were able to maneuver the road and get backed into a site. No other campers. Very quiet are. Short walk to the Rio Grande River. No fires or open flames (gas grills) at this time. Close to road so there is some road noise but not bad.

That hill they talk about in another review really isn't that bad. I wouldn't recommend for larger rigs though as it might be difficult to maneuver. There are a couple low clearance spots, but they can be avoided easily. I have a 23ft TT and didn't have any problems. No campfires while I was here. Close to the main road, but can barely hear road noise.

Nothing special about this park, but it worked for a one night stay. There isn't a sign for "San Antonio Bosque Park" off Hwy 380, instead turn at the second yellow cattle grate if you're coming from Interstate 25 (in addition to using the GPS coordinates). After you make this initial turn, the road splits (see photos) - take the higher road that's on the right. A short drive down this road will lead you to the entrance to the park (on your right).
It's a small park that wasn't developed with RVs in mind. But there are around 5 or so "sites" with picnic tables. Since we got in late, leaving early, and there wasn't anyone else around, we just pulled onto the side of one of the roads and called it a night. But, our rig and truck would've fit into one of the sites if necessary.
A lot of tree coverage here so it's not great for solar. There were also a bunch of cows roaming around freely, which meant watch out for cow patties!

Sign says San Antonio Bosque Park, which according to another site, is a series of riverine parks along the Rio Grande. Arrived at night and had trouble finding it, but would have been much easier in daylight, as it's visible from the road. Veer to the right as soon as you turn off the roadway, then there will be a right turn to go down a small hill into the campground. Our 26 ft rig was fine, and if we got back up the hill, you can too, but I'd recommend scouting it out. Larger rigs may have trouble maneuvering the campground, however. And some spots have lower clearance, though we were fine. Only saw one other person that was camping in a tent when we arrived and they were gone when we got up. Concrete picnic tables and fire rings, but there was a fire ban, though that didn't stop our neighbor. I'd go again, especially if it was on my route for an overnight.
