“A very quiet state park in the middle of Texas”

Reviewed Dec 13, 2017

Overall Rating

We only stayed here overnight on a trip across Texas but we found this to be a delightful and VERY quiet place to spend a night. I recommend this place without hesitation. The campsites are large and spread far apart so the lack of vegetation between sites is not an issue. The elecltric and water worked very well. Verizon interne... more

“Great views of the lake (even if the water level is very low)”

Reviewed May 10, 2017

Overall Rating

This is a really pretty park, with a lot of the sites having great views of what was left of the lake, or just of the rolling hills. Super quiet and relaxing place to spend a week. Large pull through sites, parallel to the road in the area we in, so the entire side of the RV was facing the view. Isolated feeling, but super clos... more

“Quiet State Park, but close to town”

Reviewed Jan 25, 2017

Overall Rating

San Angelo State Park is very close to the city of San Angelo, but it doesn't feel that way. There is a lake at the Park, and 40 camping spots with water and electric hookups. Most sites have a covered picnic table and fire ring. Sites are gravel, and not a lot of trees. We did not use any bath facilities, but they are available. ... more

I've been to several state parks in the great state of Texas...this isn't one of the shining examples of campgrounds therein. We had the place almost entirely to ourselves, so that was great. Scenery is nice. Sites are pretty spread out. Hawks, wild turkeys and mule deer are abundant. But the biggest reason for my lower rating ... more

“Enjoy a Prairie View Campsite”

Reviewed Mar 28, 2015

Overall Rating

This park was once around a lake that is now dry. Can only imagine how lovely it once was, and bustling with activity. Now, because there's not as much to do here, the campground is very easy to get into last minute, even over a weekend. And it remains fairly chill and quiet.. just our style. The sites are very large and spaci... more

“Somewhat remote, but easy access to the city. Well spaced sites and nice facilities”

Reviewed Jan 11, 2015

Overall Rating

Somewhat remote and quiet. More locals visiting when we were there. Lake (in 2012) was virtually dry, but one could see with water it would be a wonderful attraction. Campsites well spaced and varied. This is a large park with campsites in small groups spread around the park. Gret place to watch the infamous TX storms roll across th... more
