The manatee are here but just out of the viewing area unless you have a kayak.
The water pressure at the sites was weak.
There is a shopping plaza across from the campground & a Dollar General. The plaza has a couple restaurants and a laundromat. We used the laundromat, and it was great but expensive.

Great campground. Will definitely be back!
Sites are spaced out, clean, grassy areas and plenty trees around but no privacy. Great to walking and enjoying the springs that I saw many fish and blue crabs… bring your own goggles.

PROS
A camp host came to our site immediately after we unhitched to advise that our one tow vehicle tire on the grass will get us a $250 fine from US Forest Service officer. Funny, we never ever saw a USFS officer patrolling the campground.
Entrance gates closed at 8pm requiring code to enter
Immaculately maintained park. A small army of maintenance staff always working. Even one night at 930pm in the bathroom.
Saved $156 with America the Beautiful pass
Site 32 shady
Asphalt parking pad surrounded with sandy gravel
Moveable metal picnic table
Pedestal BBQ grill
High sided metal fire ring with 2 unremovable cooking grates
One hook lantern pole
Campfire wood for sale at registration office
No street lights in campground so good dark sky viewing if neighbors have their rig lights off which most nights they were lit up which also lit up surrounding campsites
Able to get T-MOBILE signal on our T-MOBILE WIFI device
Many squirrels ate from our hand
CONS
In 8 days never saw a USFD vehicle drive thru the campground.
$8 fee to make on-line reservations
Site 32 not level
Absolutely no privacy from any other site
In 20 degree exterior temperatures, both campground bathhouses had windows open, whole house fans operating in full capacity and ceiling fans operating on high. Obvious park maintenance does NOT want anyone taking a shower when interior bathhouse temperatures were in the 30s and the bathhouse was a freezing wind tunnel! It was even difficult using the toilet.
Loud and rowdy campers all weekend long—day and night. Quiet hours not enforced.
Highway 19 traffic noise
USFD clearing project on east side of campground. Heavy equipment noise for 9 straight hours day after day!!!
No notice water outage for 2 hours
No park WiFi
No T-MOBILE cell service
No public phone for emergency calls

We came into the campground planning to stay two nights in a First come, first served electric site. After talking to the staff, we were able to get an electric site the first night but not the second night. The second night we got a non-electric site, which was fine. But the problem with the first come, first served sites is that it looks like there are lots available on their website, but since it takes a couple of days to update, then you can't go by what the website says are open sites. That was a hassle, but we enjoyed our stay there.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Electric sites are blacktop with grass, full hookups. Non-electric are all dirt, so get real muddy when raining. They are nice sites though. Bathrooms are clean with two toilet stalls and two showers, with nice, hot water. Staff were constantly driving around on golf carts making sure everything was clean, etc.
We LOVED bathing in the Salt Springs!! 72 degrees year round. Have a very nice picnic area with lots of tables to eat at. Very clean restrooms/showers/changing rooms.

Arrived Sunday around noon and the park was quiet but we were told we couldn't enter park until 2 pm. We were told to park in shopping center across the street. The park offers a pretty springs and access to the lake. Park was not busy but yet we weren't allowed to park in their ample parking. I would not expect to get into my campsite early but ridiculous we couldn't use the park. Campsites are clean but no privacy. Only hiking trail closed so very limited activities. As of next year with a National senior park pass campsites will cost $52 in 2024 . We will not return.

We arrived 2 days ago with no reservation. Was given a list of sites available & told to go pick our site and come back to office to check in. Found a lovely site, full hookup which includes sewer. Nice bathhouses. Grounds are lovely. Has a gorgeous spring that you can swim in that stays 72 degrees year round. You are allowed alcohol at your site but not at the springs or their day use picnic area. Also has a big area just for tents. Lowes, Home Depot and plenty of shopping is 25 min. north. Come out of park, go right about 2 blocks and a fully stocked Dollar General, Pizza shop and Laundromat. Go left about 1/2 mi. has 2 gas stations, and. Taco place. Go left about 6 min. and there is a bar called Cactus Jacks. Want ice-cream go to Pizza shop or buy at Dollar General (has good amount of groceries). We will definitely cone here again. Paid $38 a night with America the Beautiful senior pass.
