We spent the weekend 7/22-7/24 at one of the tent sites. The park is well maintained. It’s wooded and has flush toilets and coin operated showers. There are two tent areas on either end of the campground with RV sites in between. The camp hosts were low-key and helpful. We did not take advantage of the river to swim or kayak. There were a lot of kayaks in the park. We stayed across from the group site which was a little noisy until sometime after 10 PM.

What a find! I hate to recommend this beautiful little campground that I stumbled onto during our “Portland heatwave” because then everyone will want to stay here. Skip the coast, people! Cherry trees at the entrance to the park dripping with fruit. A little creek where my dog loved to take a dip. Shady sites, open sites, showers, lovely campground hosts, electrical hookups (ahhhh, bliss), and lots of activities in the area - Alsea Falls, Mary’s Peak. Seniors and Vets get discount ($27 p/nt). Plus, the little town of Alsea is a step back in time. A mercantile that sells nearly everything, a cafe where they bake fresh pastries, pies and cookies every day. It would have been perfect if it had cell service and internet, but the town of Alsea has free wi-fi at their new library. No water or sewer hookups, but who cares when you’ve got air conditioning?
