“Dusty, but close to the river and Redfish Lake”

Reviewed Oct 12, 2017

Overall Rating

On the plus side, this spot is easy to get to, offers some mountain views and has river access. On the negative side, it can be busy with lots of RVs, the dust situation is out of control, and you can hear some road noise. Hard to complain much though when it's free.

“Great views, close to the road and entrance to Redfish Lake Rd”

Reviewed Oct 04, 2017

Overall Rating

Great little spot right off the highway, basically across form Redfish Lake Rd (212). I went immediately to the right to get a spot overlooking the river. Views were great. FYI - I went end of Sept and it was freezing. Stanley is one of the coldest areas in the nations and it lived up to its rep overnight. Even with the day time ge... more

“Free camping by the river”

Reviewed Aug 24, 2017

Overall Rating

Easy access from Hwy 75 right across the street from the entrance to Redfish lake. The small loop that goes around the campground is well graded the roads going out from there are a bit rough. All campsites have fire rings and are pretty well spaced out.

“Practically an established campground, for free”

Reviewed Sep 27, 2016

Overall Rating

This one seems so well used that it may even be maintained. The road leading in is SUPER easy and the sites are practically manicured. Lots of spaces to choose from, but there was a crowd here compared to the other free places nearby.

Close to the highway = road noise
