Great layover right off the loneliest highway in America. Stayed for 2 nights allowing us to explore Great Basin National Park. Very little highway noise.

Plenty of room for larger RV's quiet, no dump, water or power. Nice restrooms and spacious sites with picnic tables and hut, bbq grills and fire rings.

We rode our mountain bikes from our campsite. It looks like you could access roads with OHV’s as well. Easy day trip to Great Basin National Park.
We were all over that campground and the only cell reception we got was a sporadic 1-2 bars of 3G Verizon, but mostly no service.
The dumpster was over flowing and the wind had blown trash all over the place. I went down to do my part and pick up the trash. When I got there a BLM worker was there. He said that the trash was only picked up once a month until summer. Together we got it all picked up. People, take your trash if the dumpster is full!

We were favorably impressed by this FREE camping spot right off Hwy. 50 near Great Basin NP. It was easy to find and no issue with access from the road. We had a 30 ft MH with toad and didn’t want to unhook for one night, so we just picked a pull through on the lower level, never even went to the upper level. The sites were pretty level and each had a shade cover with table, but it was so windy we just hunkered down for the afternoon/evening. The only negative was the trash receptacle which was overflowing when we got there and was even more so the next morning, I noticed people not staying in the park pulling off the highway to dump their trash. They should consider another receptacle or more frequent pickups or both. I would definitely stay here again, the views were spectacular!

Verizon and ATT both zero service. Beautiful spot though with easy access! Good spot for the night before heading into Great Basin NP.

Very nice campground close to Great Basin National Park. Nice covered picnic tables with fire rings and BBQ grills nicely spaced apart. We explored the upper section after we had already set up but it was even better. I only gave it 4 stars for cleanliness because the rest room was a mess. We didn't use them anyway.

What a great spot. We used it as our night before reservations in Great Basin. This place is so clean, wonderful sites, and great hiking trails. We even had sporadic cell service, which most others report being absent. If you are driving by, don't miss it!

What a gem! BLM has clearly dedicated some resources to this campground in recent years.
We stayed in the upper campground which has three back-in sites that afford much more privacy than the sites in the lower campground. This is the perfect place if you’re looking to get away from noisy campgrounds and don’t mind not having much of a cell signal. The sites weren’t incredibly level, but nothing an Anderson leveler couldn’t fix.
The sites were clean with little left-behind trash (let’s keep it that way!) and the pit toilets were well stocked with TP and also clean.
Plenty of hiking and biking trails from the campground. We rode the Mine Loop Trail on our MTBs and was a beast of a trail: lots of technical up and down. The sunsets were beautiful and the night skies were incredible.
Great Basin NP is about a 15-minute drive away and is also free! If you head into Baker be sure to check out Kerouac’s Cafe and their little market. The closest full grocery store is in Ely, so be sure to stock up, or plan for a 45-minute drive to get there. Great Basin NP has a dump station, and that appeared to be the closest, outside of Ely.
Please remember to Leave No Trace!

Beautiful dark night skies. We left to go into Ely and when we returned late that night, the whole campground was full! Very quiet except for the motor home running their air conditioner all night! Great boondocking site!

There are mountain biking trails right from the campsite, pretty technical but beautiful. There is a small pond at site which our dogs loved. This is a first come spot and they get taken quickly, others will come and park in non designated spots but this wasn’t really a problem there is lots of space. No cell service.

We passed through the area in late May 2021 and stopped planning to spend a night. Unfortunately there was NO Verizon cell service. We moved on to Ward Mountain Campground near Ely and Verizon was great there.
