I just arrived here and it’s definitely open. I was nervous with taking my sprinter van but it was a breeze. I agree the turnaround at the end is very soft but I saw someone with a class A bus turn around only a little ways down the beach. The approach from the road to the beach didn’t seem soft to me. Hope this helps.

Was there in January 2022... The sand at the entrance was a little soft so be careful there. But once on the beach sand was compact and easily traversable. There is only one turn around location and that sand is a little loose there is well.

I was there in late Oct 2021 and had good pavement that came within 50 yards of the beach. Sand was very firm from end of pavement to about halfway to the beach. Also another paved road parallel to beach just short of where the pavement ends. Plenty of room and firm sand to wrangle a 35 footer in there.

It’s been 12 months since we visited Rutherford Beach, and overnighted there. You are right that the hurricanes had totally remodeled the beach since a prior visit two years earlier. Our Winnebago view has no trouble but we did not venture far onto the beach as the inclines were steep and areas of sand dangerously soft. I suggest your fifth wheel might encounter difficulties. Also be aware that the short ferry you meet up with west of Rutherford has an approach that was way too steep to safely get on the camper on board. They will likely make you turn back as well.

We took our brand new 37’ Tiffin on the beach. What a mistake. We had to be towed out. The problem happened when we were leaving no attempted to turn. It seemed like compacted sand though we were wrong

We were at Rutherford Beach and had no trouble getting onto the beach with our 30 foot fifthwheel. Very few people there but there were a couple of other rigs larger than ours.
