Ours was a steep back-in 3 tiered site with huge boulders and gravel. It is a small CG on a river. 1 lane dirt road for part of the drive in. Only a few sites for big rigs. Nice and quiet at night.

This is the perfect time of the year to stay here! The rafters are gone and it’s more quiet. We enjoyed fishing on the Arkansa River and beautiful views of the mountains. The hiking on browns canyon is great and the brown creek falls are just a short drive away (plus a 7mi round trip hike).

Quiet, amazing views, great condition (remodeled in 2016), great access to fishing and hiking. Would definitely come back. The tent area by the river was crowded but the sites offered good views of the river and mountains without being crowded.

Beautifully situated along the Arkansas River south of Buena Vista. During the day you hear the river rafters and there is some traffic going to the trail head near by. Other than that it is just the sound of the river. Spaces are spacious and many are big rig friendly. The scenery is outstanding. There are no hookups and it is 'pack it in pack it out'. There are pit toilets that are clean and cleaned daily. We stayed 1 night in a 34 ft. RV but will definitely be back. Be sure to make reservations if you are coming for the weekend.

Looks like it cost $18 to camp plus the state daily pass fee (about $7).

We stayed here for almost a week last summer. A country road runs through the middle of the campground, but is lightly travelled. The campground host was friendly and helpful and helped us find the ideal spot for us to camp. There isn't a lot (any) shade, other than one spot next to the restrooms, so come prepared to provide your own. There is about 300m of river access for fishing. There is a trashcan and a couple of bathrooms here, but no water. Cell service is adequate, I worked the entire time we were here. The county road extends above and beyond the campground and provides an opportunity for riding bikes or easy hiking. There is also a hiking trail nearby.
