Round Top Carmine RV Park

We called for a same day reservation and reserved a pull through spot with full hook ups. Was given the discounted rate of $75 (which I thought was steep). Upon arrival we were so frazzled with the drive on I-10 from LA that we were super grouchy. Jack the owner greeted us and was friendly and kind even gave us complimentary Lone Star beer - attitude adjusted! Jack showed us to our spot and helped us pull through so our hook ups were aligned correctly. We started to look around and this place is beautiful! Big green park like setting with large open spaces for walking. A fun pavilion area with a fire pit and bbq and a very large, perfect dog park complete with a fresh water system, bags, trash, toys, shade, chairs and it was clean and well fenced. I was impressed with this park. The setting was beautiful, it was clean, & spacious. Found out the rate was higher due to a large special event in town. I would love to come back and stay a few days. Thank you Jack for your Texas hospitality!

Park has expansive green space even though it’s right off the highway! Under new ownership. Jack was super responsive and even came in late to meet us and escort us to our spot. Didn’t use the bathrooms, WiFi or laundry. Little to no noise from the highway. The park definitely has some places that could use some sprucing up but the potential to be a really nice park is there. Would definitely recommend for an overnight stay.

We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled into Dixieland RV Park in Carmine, Texas. It was a 2 day layover for us that we chose because it was the halfway point to where we were going next and offered a Passport America discount.

To save a little money, we planned to do 30amp service but were told over the phone that with our size RV (38') that we could only do 50 amp. $5 more a day and we actually ended up running both of our air conditioners for a bit so it all worked out in the end. $20 per night with our Passport America discount.

To get to the park, turn south off Highway 290 on Spur 458. Spur 458 is a small-ish road and came up quickly so we missed it and had to go a few miles past to turn around.

We arrived on a Wednesday and were quickly checked in. Note: cash or check only - no cards! Bill got in his golf cart and guided us to our pull through spot, which was on grass. If it's recently rained, this may be an issue.

The wifi was free and worked well. There's a laundry/library shed. The machines look very new and worked great. $1.25 per machine. There is a bathroom/shower building, but we didn't go in.

Pet friendly. Our 2 dogs loved the grass and walking into the town.
