My husband, myself and our two dogs stayed here for 3 nights. Was quiet and mostly just us. The only down side is we found 3 ticks between our 2 dogs. And it’s freaking December! Otherwise would stay here again!

This place is hard to find because my GPS cant find it. No sign of Rosie Jones Park. If you hit 1971 just follow the road. After the bridge its on the right. Again no sign. No restrooms. road inside is not being maintained well so if you have an RV stay on top of the hill. Lots of areas by the lake to cast and try to get some fish. Lot... more

No restrooms. road inside is not being maintained well so if you have an RV stay on top of the hill. Lots of areas by the lake to cast and try to get some fish. Lots of trash too. So better to bring a trash picker to help the place. Will camp again here.

“Small, secluded hill right on the lakefront”

The user above me gave a very accurate description. A few additions: it is a little hill right at the lake. There are maybe 3 places possible for RV. The best and overall nicest I think is the hilltop. It is flat - and one has the best overlook. The road is great right until the last stretch to and around the hill, there are the abovementioned potholes. But it is not a dirtroad, thus drivable when wet. We were the only people there staying overnight... but in the evening several people drove right up to the water, made doghnuts on the grass, drank alcohol, smashed the glasses on the floor, and lit a huge fire which they left burning when they drive off. Apart from that I would give it a 5, but there was a bit more trash than one would hope for in such an idle piece of land.

I got to see the planet Mars with my naked eyes. Locals and campers are very nice and friendly. Harry gave me a windscreen for my stove, while others gave me fire wood, and live minnows for bait. One local even wanted to share his food from the food bank.
The boat ramp has collapsed so its gated off but the narrow wooden dock is still up. I and others fished from it.
But the hill was not mowed. Only one of the two picnic tables has short grass and level. I also camped at the other table when it rained. The trash were picked up twice a week.

The park road is in poor repair so watch out for pot holes and washed out areas. If you are in a motorhome or large trailer go uphill at the Y not down to the water, the road is somewhat better to the right. If you are using a tent, take your pick. This is not a road for a corvette. There are few truly level areas but several places that are not too bad. There is a boat launch but it is fairly steep so be careful. There are a couple of concrete picnic tables but no restrooms, water or power so be prepared. Dry camping only. Limited cell service (one bar for me).

“No longer free!”
noted 4/4/2023
Drove 140 miles to stop in here & the website says no fees required. There's now a big sign up when you turn in stating you must pay $5 a night and go to the ranger station to get a permit or you will be made to leave even if you paid. Stopped at a Love's for the night instead.
