PROS
No fee to make my own on-line reservation
Site 88 excellent view of lake
Pedestal BBQ grill
Wooden Picnic table top with concrete frame on a concrete slab
Nice space between MOST sites
Park easily accessible to Interstate 20
3 bars T-MOBILE
CONS
No senior or veteran discount
Site 88 concrete parking pad all cracked and heaved made for difficult leveling
Backing into Site 88 with a 28 ft travel trailer was challenging due to the angle to the road and campsite across had numerous vehicles parked right along the roadway
5ft wide campsite fire ring…biggest we’ve ever seen!
Numerous HOMESTEADERS throughout CCC campground. Made campground very “junky” looking with all their “stuff ” piled around in their campsite
Park roadway in very poor condition, potholes connected to potholes! Potholes keep speed at 10 mph or less
Able to hear Interstate 20 road noise
Train noise about every 3 hours
Toilet/shower facility heavily used. Finish peeling off of toilet seats. Women’s stall doors coming apart. No soap. Insufficient TP once the weekend crowds hit. Toilets were not cleaned Saturday
Handicap assessable toilet only in one of the CCC campground loops
Trash dumpsters are in next campground loop so 30 minute walk
No campfire wood for sale in park, but sold at EXXON right outside park entrance
No park WiFi

We called the day of not expecting to get a site for a Friday night, but the staff assured us they had a few sites left. It’s a winding, narrow road to the park but take it easy and there are no problems. The site was hard to back in with the angle (we are 37 ft) but once in we enjoyed the stay. It’s a lovely park with water views. They are doing some maintenance work, improving the dam, camping sites, and their hotel and cabins. We were just passing through the area, but a longer stay would be fun. Full hookups, quiet evening with crickets chirping and the full moon hanging low over the lake - a wonderful evening.

I found this spot when traveling down south toward Texas and needed a place to stay overnight. little did i know, I was able to secure spot facing the lake for $28 a night. By far one of our top favorite campgrounds I’ve stayed at. Site 74 or 76 is where it’s at ;-)

Me, husband, 2 daughters ( 11,9) and son (5) just bought a camper and this is our 3rd official camping trip. This is a Great woodsy campground. We stayed in the old campground and the sites were spacious. Our site (14) was level. Only complaint was that the picnic table was on the wrong side. We never used it because of that- we set up our chairs and ate in them.
The lakeview trail was overgrown. But we made due. The kids LOVED the slide. Loved it. The pool was full of dead ants. I liked that there is a whole 3foot deep section for my 5 year old to play in without floaties (with my guidance of corse)
The bathrooms were ok. I was glad for privacy when I showered, but the stalls got flooded making it hard to get dressed.
Everyone left with at least 1 tick.
We would definitely come here again.

We were diverted here from Lefleur's Bluff SP due to flooding along the Pearl River. Our site was #13 on the East side of Shadow Lake, a beautiful wooded area. Pad was level side-to-side and sloped from front to back, which was good for our TT. There are only about 5 miles of walking trails in the park, most out-and-back and lacking parking areas at the trailheads. I was able to figure out a route consisting of the Gold, Blue and Red trails that would be an approximate 3 mile loop. Trails are well marked, with color tree blazes.

Directly off the Interstate, perfect for an over nighter. The pad was level and concrete. The hookups included 15 and 30 AMP with water. The downside was the bathhouse wasn't very clean. Women's shower was very dirty, drain clogged and no hot water.

Absolutely gorgeous setting with the woods and the lake. The park has lots of potential, it just needs some updating. We enjoyed our stay overall. The washing machine a previous reviewer mentioned is still broken. We were also disappointed to see the fire tower was closed and locked up.

We stayed here for one night on a cross-country road trip. The site was pretty narrow with drop offs on either side - might have been tricky with a larger rig. Site 87 is a great location on the lake. It's a beautiful park and the fall colors were on full display during our stay! We didn't check out the shower or laundry facilities.
