My rate includes senior discount. I camped during the third week in February. The campground was less than half filled. I was lucky with a site that was deep, level, and with a view of the lake including sunrises out my back window (likely only possible with leaves down off trees). There appeared to be good spacing between the sites. It was fairly quiet but for a few planes flying overhead. The bathhouse was clean and the showers more than adequate. Having never camped here before I went the wrong way initially: right after the check-in booth one needs to make their next right turn. There is a small sign near the ground that states campers only that I didn't see until I turned around. Additionally, my site, being a back-in site required going counter-clockwise on the loop it is on BUT there are no arrows or sign telling you to go that way. Luckily for me my RV is a class b and easy to maneuver. I never saw a host. The staff at check-in were very professional and friendly. They sell wood right there at the booth. There are trails one can walk right from the campground.

Peaceful overnight stay.
- Water/electric site, fire ring, with a dump station not that far away.
- Do yourself a favor and wander around. The lake is beautiful.
- We stayed in February and there were very few people around.
- Very clean

We stayed on a Saturday night through Friday, working during the week. My husband had enough connectivity to work and do zoom calls using at&t. He also streamed Netflix, all with no booster or antenna. I have Verizon, which had slightly better speeds than at&t, and I also worked thru the week without using our mimo antenna and had no problems! Bathhouses were clean and very warm (maybe a bit too warm), and no problems with hookups at the site. We had a fair amount of turnover in neighbors but everyone was quiet and respectful.
Not really an issue but trash and recycling has been removed from the loop during COVID and you have to take it to the dumpsters at the dump station.

This park offers campsites that are pleasantly well-spaced, although not always pleasantly level. After some internet sleuthing, we booked site A-4, which was long, level and offered water and 30A electric, but no water views. It was also closer to its neighboring campsite than many others, but lucky for us - no one occupied that campsite after the first two nights (when it was occupied by a park host).
As we stayed here in the off-season, loop A was the only loop that was open. While it filled up on weekends, on the weekdays in December there was nearly no one here. Even on weekends, it was incredibly quiet.
If you are a large rig, we recommend carefully assessing campsites before arrival for levelness.
There is a trail system that runs throughout the park, water access for fishing or boating, and a pristine appearing beach area a not-to-terribly-long walk down the trail system (or a quick drive to the parking lot).
We found both Verizon and AT&T to offer very usable data (up and down) in this area - sometimes even connecting to Verizon 5G on our phones.

It was easy enough to get level and close to the trail that connects the loops and the lake access. I didn't notice many planes overhead as were mentioned in previous reviews, but it was during covid so flight volume was certainly lower than usual. Cell service was good and we were able to work and stream just fine here. There was a two slot dump station and trash plus recycling near the entrance.

OTA TV is ok, but not as good as one would expect being this close to Raleigh-Durham. Also, the SRA is apparently on the airport flight path, as there was a fair bit of jet noise, particularly in the evening. There are a couple trails in the immediate area, as well as between the campground loops. A Loop seemed more crowded and noisy than B Loop.

We have visited several campgrounds at Falls Lake, NC, and this is our least favorite. It is a smaller campground and the sites are adequate. The non-electric tent sites are spacious and private, but some of the RV sites are hilly and unlevel. Be sure to check the driveway length. Our site was up a hill, and we barely fit with our 30-foot travel trailer. The site was marketed as available for a 30-foot rig, but should only be labeled as 26-foot at most. However, the sites are maintained and the rangers help keep things running smoothly. They frequently drive through the camping loops, so it's easy to find someone if there are any issues. The sites often have multiple parking spaces to accommodate additional cars or boat trailers.
The grounds are quiet and the sites are private. The bathhouse is typical for a North Carolina State Park. They are cleaned daily.

Our campsite was A2. We stayed here the first week of June 2020. The site was spacious and gave a good amount of space between us and our neighbor. It was fairly level, we didn't need much to level our rig. We had plenty of space to spread out behind our vehicle for our bug tent. The site is mostly shady and does get late afternoon sun for about an hour or so. We didn't use the bathhouse but it didn't seem to be very far from our site. Water pressure was low at times.
The park has a good amount of hikes to venture out on. We came during firefly season and they normally lit up around 8:30 and dimmed down a little later. 8:30 was their most active time. The park itself is beautiful. Lots of trees and wildlife to enjoy. The lake is huge with boats and other water toys buzzing around.
I would recommend this state park. They put it together very well. Its' got a very thoughtful layout.
