We got caught up on Eagle Lake with all the camping options still closed for the season. I called the BLM and asked if camping on the entry to their campgrounds would be okay and they agreed. We parked down at bottom of the steep entry where it was reasonably flat. Beautiful location down from road at the edge of the lake. Good ... more
We got caught up on Eagle Lake with all the camping options still closed for the season. I called the BLM and asked if camping on the entry to their campgrounds would be okay and they agreed. We parked down at bottom of the steep entry where it was reasonably flat. Beautiful location down from road at the edge of the lake. Good boondocking spot.

Called Ranger at Christie Campground and confirmed they were open, arrived to a closed gate so we detoured to BLM Rocky Point West, a 10-15min drive up eagle road from the other campgrounds. Paved turn off Eagle road with a very Sharp right hand and downhill turn (our class C made it fine). Gate the bottom with bulletin board. Sage bru... more
Called Ranger at Christie Campground and confirmed they were open, arrived to a closed gate so we detoured to BLM Rocky Point West, a 10-15min drive up eagle road from the other campgrounds. Paved turn off Eagle road with a very Sharp right hand and downhill turn (our class C made it fine). Gate the bottom with bulletin board. Sage brush on either side of dirt road down to three rock built campfire rings as markers for campsites. Sandy but driveable. Road narrows the further you go down it and sage brush and rocks close in on either side the further down you proceed. Would not recommend driving past the point the last campsite, as there is not a way to turn around. Some glass and trash, but overall the sites are clean. Cell service was intermittent one bar to none. Extremely quiet area. We were the only people around all night, saw two cars on the main road in 12 hour period of time.

The entry off the lain road is steep and has two sharp curves followed by a gate. Can be tough on larger rigs. There are really only two (maybe three) places down the dirt road for any RV camping. Once the road turns to lose rock, do not go any further as it dead ends with no place to turn around. Camping spots were fine - though very ... more
The entry off the lain road is steep and has two sharp curves followed by a gate. Can be tough on larger rigs. There are really only two (maybe three) places down the dirt road for any RV camping. Once the road turns to lose rock, do not go any further as it dead ends with no place to turn around. Camping spots were fine - though very sandy - but the cell signal was not usable, even with a booster.
We moved to Rocky Point East after only a single night.
