I have read about Anza Borrego many times on different blogs. I vowed to go here some day. That day has come! With some advice from asolojourner we picked our spot easily. It is at the end of the asphalt road to the right. Half a bubble off level, 4 bars Verizon 4G with NO antenna, and peaceful as could be adked for. We were here at th... more

“Excellent free campsite near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park”

Reviewed Mar 20, 2018

Overall Rating

This campground is really easy to get to and is located on Rockhouse Trail off of the Borrego Salton Seaway between mile markers 26 & 27. Part of Rockhouse Trail is paved but after the pavement stops it is hard packed dirt and gravel, most sites are also hard packed and gravel or dirt. All size RV's can fit here, we saw plenty of larg... more

“Quiet and secluded”

Came out here for my first stay at Rockhouse Trail. Easy access in and out and lots of spots to call yours for a while. Internet good enough off my Verizon hotspot (3G 5 bars) with a Udrive Sleek booster to watch ROKU and Kodi Box. Sprint hotspot was a little iffy (3G 3 bars). Cricket phone 5 bars LTE. Winds were a little heavy for ... more

“Introverts Need Not Apply”

Just kidding. It IS a very social boondocking spot, though. Popular, too. It's beautiful. It's free. It's spread out. It has cell coverage (depending on where you park). There's no max limit stay (I don't think) and it's just plain freakin' awesome. Throw in a super cute little town with surprising culinary delights 5 minutes away (h... more

“Useable internet with ATT. Open. Interesting topography around.”

Reviewed Jan 07, 2018

Overall Rating

First- internets. I could use ATT to stream, but not Verizon. How crowded was it? Mmmm, fairly- there was some sort of FMCA gathering with about maybe 50 rigs clumped into a ring a ways away. Otherwise I would say there were about 45 other rigs within eyeshot. (So you can gauge tower overload) I was decently happy with internet but... more

“Great boondocking, but cell service was unuseable”

Reviewed Nov 20, 2017

Overall Rating

We loved this spot and so badly wished we could have stayed longer, but the whole Borrego Springs area, including the town itself, is seriously suffering with cell tower overload. Even though we had service, it was completely unuseable. Such a bummer, so we had to pack up and move on. When you turn onto Rockhouse Trail, it starts as... more

We boondocked at Rockhouse in mid-February and enjoyed it, but the wildflowers were not really at their peak yet, so we came back about three weeks later hoping to see more flowers. As for the flowers, we weren't disappointed. The display was fabulous! However, our experience at Rockhouse - not so much. First, it was very hot, getting ... more

Loads of space and free camping. No problem for any sort of camper to stay. Don't camp behind market area, ranchers come by and check. Close to borrego springs and loads of hiking and off-roading opportunities.
