“Free, beautiful, quite and a great epicenter for things to do!”

Reviewed Mar 24, 2017

We boondocked here for 4 days. The town was a little busy because it was wild flower season, but it was still quaint and the people were super friendly. Town is only about 10miles from this camping spot. There's sky art, wild flowers, a dry lake bed, and the rock house canyon road (super rocky! Caution!) to go see locally. We also ... more

Loads of space and free camping. No problem for any sort of camper to stay. Don't camp behind market area, ranchers come by and check. Close to borrego springs and loads of hiking and off-roading opportunities.

We've been camping at the upper Peg Leg area since March 2, 2017. It is absolutely beautiful here with all the spring wildflowers blooming and the green meadow-like feel of the area after the recent rains. It is so quiet at night with bright stars and mostly clear and deep blue skies during daytime. The mountain views are stunning a... more

Rockhouse Trail (also known as Rockhouse Road) is an area of dispersed camping in Anza-Borrego State Park. This is an easily accessed FREE boondocking area off S22 and about a 15 minute drive into Borrego Springs. If you like desert scenery and a degree of solitude and can do without all the amenities that come with standard campground... more

This was our first time boondocking at this site. On the plus side, it's easy to access, there's plenty of room to spread out, the views are nice and it's close to town. It was quiet at night too. On the negative side, there are no services whatsoever - no water, sewer, electricity, dump station, outhouses, bathrooms, showers, trash ca... more

We stay here at least one night every time we go through Borrego Springs, it is possibly one of ugliest pieces of land in the park, however it is safe, you have lots of room and the hikes in the hills are great and the sunsets wonderful. Some people seem to stay for extended periods, to each his own but for my sense of desert there has... more

Rockhouse has a lot to offer. It's technically part of the state park but it feels like BLM. There is plenty of space to park and call your own. Enter the area off of Rockhouse road. The first section is paved then rocky/dirt hard pack. We had no trouble navigating our tow vehicle and 30' trailer. Lots to do in the area. Be sur... more

We spent 10 days here over the New Year's holiday. Even with a little rain and wind it will still an awesome place to stay. Close to Borrego Springs if you need supplies but far enough away to experience a little desert solitude. We enjoyed great hiking in the area and exploring off road in our Jeep.

A great place to Boon-dock just outside of Borrego Springs. Plenty of open space to camp. Depending on just where you find cell service could be spotty. You can take on water and dump at another State Park across town. We really enjoyed this area and will certainly be back.
