The lush and more protected end of the lake. We recommend the sites facing the small bay with better views of the mountains and more protecting from wind, but the other side has an amazing sunset. Go for water fronted site if possible.
No reservations meant we were lucky to get a spot in overflow from the cool camp host. All three CGs on Arapahoe were nice, but all full. Though overflow was near a nice stream, we spent the day by the launch with views of both the bay and expanse of lake. The evening kayak into the bay presented multiple Osprey sightings, varied bird songs, glass smooth water reflecting the mountains and the. One of the most incredible sunsetsDon’t miss a stroll on the ridge trail or Continental Divide.

Note: if you park anywhere but your assigned site, you need the $5 ANR lake usage pass or get a ticket

“Cool crisp nights and very warm days right along the lake”

Since Rocky Mountain National Park went on reservations only for every single site, I've been hard-pressed to find campgrounds on a fly-by-night nature. This Campground fit the bill. Only wish I could have stayed here more than 5 days. Bathrooms were recently refurbished and are very clean even though they are pit toilets. One restroom does have running water during the season. I like the way they dispersed the campsites with the topography. Be sure to stay up late and don't have a campfire. The Stars will put on their own show. Perfect place to watch the meteor showers!
