After a long day of driving through the mountain roads it was a very welcoming place to land. Nice park for kids within walking distance. Fire rings, and full hook ups. Mostly level grass pads. 8 slots, all back in. Check in is with the police station in town. Super easy to check in. Close to America’s first mile.

This is a city park. We camped in a 25ft travel trailer on site 8. This is easily big rig accessible. An easy walk to the river. The park sits right next to the river with a hiking trail that is well maintained. We loved Fort Kent. We would definitely come back.

For us, this campground was the answer to the question: when you’re in Quebec with a prescription from an American doctor that by law no Canadian pharmacist will fill, where is the closest US pharmacy?
So it was the Rite Aid that brought us here, but this campground has a lot to offer.
There are eight, full-service spots just a few minutes walk from a riverside trail that goes along the river separating United States and Canada.
To get all this for $20 (plus $1 for credit card) in a very quiet setting with fairly level sites and four bars of att service is a terrific bargain.
You can check in any time you want, because the campground office is the police dispatcher, open 24/7. And you need to go to the police station before you can set up, because - and I’ve never seen this- the water, electric and even sewer are padlocked!
So then why no fifth star? The bathrooms are quite a walk away from the campground, and there is no shower there. Spacing is good, but there are few trees between sites and little to no shade. No Wi-Fi.
Further, you likely don’t want site number three. For some reason the sewer is on one side and the water and electric are on the other side. As luck would have it that was the one we were given, but we changed after one day.
If you find yourself here check out the training center for biathletes. There are nice trails to explore in summer or winter and it’s a cool facility!

Fort Kent has many ATV and snowmobile trails that you can also use for biking and hiking. This camping area is right downtown and adjacent to restaurants and a supermarket. It has full hookups. Sites 1 and 2 are 50 amp service sites 3 through nine are 30 amp service.
To reserve a site call the fort Kent Police department.
