“You can't get much closer to the river than this!”

This is a beautiful and quiet campground about a mile off the highway. Several campsites are right on the river. This is near Island Park, ID and fishing is popular here so this campground can be busy, even mid week. The location is convenient to West Yellowstone, and Yellowstone National Park, both about an hour away. I lucked out with a cancellation and an amazing campsite with a view of the river. The campground is clean and tidy. Vault toilets, and the sites are well spaced for privacy. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. The campground is in Lodgepole Pine trees and many sites are shady. My site had morning and afternoon shade with enough sun mid-day to fully charge the solar. It was pretty incredible to fall asleep with the sound of the river right outside my trailer window.

“National forest campgrounds are the best!”

Such a sweet find at the end of the day when we pulled into the C Loop and found just the right spot for our 30' Airstream. This campground, a mile drive down a gravel road, is free of any road noise. The vault toilets are spotless and the campground hosts friendly. $15/night or $7.50 with park pass. There is no dump or fill water, only spigots scattered throughout the park.

Comprised of three loops, A and B are reservable; C is first come, first served. Sites A20 and A21 are the best sites located right on the river. If you book ahead, you may be lucky enough to nab one of these. Once there, get ready to relax and unwind, sans WiFi/cell coverage. Our Wilson Booster was able to s-l-o-w-l-y pull in emails and would allow us to text. Other than that, it's sit back and enjoy the beauty of the Targhee National Forest.
