“Very quiet upper Metolius Walk In Only Sites. ”

Walk in only means you have to park by the gravel road and walk to your site. Most sites are within 20yds or less from the road. Give or take. No sites are directly on the river, but they are close. Since this is a walk in site, there are no RVs with generators. I stayed further down stream tent camping for a few days and the noise was bad. The Riverside Campground has a old style water pump. Clean pit toilets. This is the only campground along the river that actually has cell service. This is a big plus for me due to medical reasons. The only other site would the Gorge Campground if you are using a cell booster. Riverside has ATT, Sprint Hotspot and Verizon LTE service. It can be weak, but it can be strong. It works though. The tower is near Black Butte Ranch and possibly up on Santiam Pass. The sites are well maintained and have fire pits and picnic tables. They are spread out and very large. A lot of vegetation separate one site from the other. Cabins are across the river, but not intrusive. A trail leads from the campground downriver to the store and beyond. The water is very shallow in the upper river. But is fishable.
