The campground itself is smaller but the park is HUGE! I think we had the best site in the park. It was a large site, right on the creek with our awning side facing it. It was also a long site, so a big rig would fit here. Unfortunately, it rained a lot while we were there, but it was nice to look out the windows at. We needed one leveling block. The site had water & electric. The park supplies pretty good internet throughout the campground. It had a picnic table and a fire ring. There was a dump station. There are bathrooms and showers. My husband used them and said they were fine. The pressure was good, but the hot water didn't get very hot. I wouldn't use them because they were dark & gloomy & scary. I was afraid of "critters", lol. But they were also clean. They definitely needed an updating! We could not pick up any TV stations, but they do have a connection available on wi-fi if you know how to use that. We didn't, so I streamed TV. It worked pretty good. You are allowed to use all the parks amenities. There was a nice lodge that you could sit in, with games (or you could bring your own) and a full wall fireplace. A restaurant. Free clubs and balls to play putt putt. Which we did play, but the course was in pretty bad shape and needs an update. They have a gift shop and a seasonal pool and ice cream stand. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is also a Rail Trail with several tunnels. It was super nice.

This park is a hidden gem. The outer loop Riverrun sites are large and overlook a branch of the river. All of the electric sites also have water which is a huge bonus and something we did not know when we booked. The campground is in the middle of nowhere, and the only downside to it are the roads to get there. We have a 19 foot camper that we pull with an F-250, but some of the hills would be terrible with a bigger camper! Lots of windy roads and steep hills no matter which direction you try to enter the park. Once in the park, there is a large lodge with a restaurant. We did not visit the restairs by this stay, but peaked inside when we stopped by the gift shop and it looked nice! We will definitely try it on our next visit. This park is a hiker/biker dream. There are a ton of trails of different difficulties all through the park including the 72 mile RailTrail complete with tunnels and bridges. There are also multiple places to fish as well. We tried a few different places with no luck. We did buy bait from the Riverrun camp store and all of our night crawlers were DOA. Firewood can be bought at the checkin/camp store, but they are only open limited hours so make sure to get it when you first get there. Firewood is $5 for 12 pieces. There is little to no cell service in the actual campground, but there is WiFi! The WiFi was a little spotty, but another bonus since there is no cell service. Overall this park is a hidden gem in the backwoods of West Virginia! We will definitely be visiting again!

Showers are dated but functional. Great hiking trails and I wish I'd had time to kayak the lovely lake. I saw a lot of folks flyfishing. There are two ways to get to the park, come in from the east, the west road is ONE lane, and not for a big trailer. I have a little gal, and wondered what I would have done if I met anyone. No stores close. No cell. Wifi at Lodge.

Nice clean state park. 30 amp pedestal in new "upper" section loop with angled asphalt parking pads. Lower loop was extremely busy with small rv and tents. East entrance is through a small village, basically single lane and winding up and down the mountains until the SP grounds then quite nice. Beware! Do not take your large rig east out of the campgrounds! Camp host very friendly, but failed to warn us about the west entrance upon departure. Unimproved gravel road beyond park property to get back to US Route 50. Probably why so many people tent camping. We were 53' going very carefully and slow.
