So thankful I found this spot on Campendium! After reading some other reviews I booked a spot (8). The pad is big and flat for various sized rigs, close to the lake and for the most part dog friendly. (Dogs are not allowed at the beach) there is a little Boy Scouts trail and canoe trail at the end of the lake for paddlers or kayakers. The vibe is quiet and the wildlife comes out as a result. Very happy with this spot after a long road trip with varying success in my camping locations.

I've stayed here a couple of times before, just getting around to doing a review now as they've changed the rules this year and this camp is no longer a first come first served camp. Everything is reservation only. Even day of reservations you need to get online and pay for your site there. And get dinged with a $10 processing fee on top of the $20 a night fee. There were a handful of sites open on Memorial Day weekend and the hosts were not taking any cash payments from folks.
Also, I was one of the first to arrive at camp and took pictures of all of the sites since the place was deserted. The pics on the recreation.gov site are worthless. I actually reserved the wrong site as I couldn't remember the # of the one I liked and had no pictures to reference. Hope my efforts help other campers when reserving...
Overall camp is great - all paved and mostly single wide back in spots with a couple double wides in there. No pull thru's. Three pit toilets cleaned twice a day by the camp hosts. Standard metal fire ring and picnic table in each site. Bear proof trash dumpsters available in camp too. The Forest Service and local Sheriff make regular patrols through camp as well. 11,12 and 14 have the best access to the river. 9,10 and 11 back up to the day use area. Regardless, the lake is a quick 5 minute walk away from every site. There is no boat ramp or dock here but there is ample parking in the day use for boat trailers. Big Larch and Seeley Lake camps have boat ramps if you need. The town of Seeley is a 10 minute drive from camp should you need any supplies or want to grab a bite to eat.
The traffic in the day use area and along Boy Scout Rd does get a little noisy in the day but things quiet down at night.
There is a nice hiking/ biking trail system that runs along the west side of the lake and the trails lead into camp near site 21. Great way to explore the area if you're able.
There has been a lot of bear activity in the area in the last couple years. I stayed here last fall and I bear came through camp and tipped over two of the dumpsters. THankfully, that was the worst of it and no one was hurt. Please make sure you are minding bear country rules and keeping all of your coolers, BBQ's, pet food and anything else tucked away safe at all times.
