We are a SAG team for mountain bikers on the Colorado Trail and made a last minute reservation here hoping to have cell service if not Wi-Fi so we could locate our cyclists. The sites were very very close together. There were some trees and stumps so we had to be careful putting out a slide. We watched a man make a 9-point turn to get his truck into position to hook up his fifth wheel. Our parking spot was across the road from our site. When we were ready to hook up, we had to back up with the front truck tires I going up the side of a 15 inch deep ditch to back onto our hitch.
Lots of people have their ATVs with them so we are really packed in.
A very nice man led us to our site.

River Fork is a campground just at the edge of the city limits of Lake City. It’s tucked back behind the park nestled up against the creek and on quiet days and nights you can hear the creek run. The campground is covered with trees. There are bathrooms (although we did not use them) and laundry (we did use - $1.75 per wash load and $0.03 per dryer minute - honor system, and you log your time on index cards in the laundry room). While we were at the campground, there were only three other rigs at the park, so it was not crowded at all. Had the park been full, I don’t know that we would have enjoyed it, as the rigs would be squeezed in like sardines and I’m not sure there would be room for tow vehicles and/or toys (certainly for bigger rigs - ours is a 38 foot fifth wheel). There are no fire rings at individual sites (too close to one another), but there is a big fire pit that the (new) owners said gets used when the park is full.
There are new owners of the campground (also newly own Henson Creek) and speaking with them, you can really tell that they want to take good care of the campground, sites, and people.
Regarding cell service, we generally had no problem connected to AT&T, although there were a couple of hours during our trip where there was no signal at all from the tower (the whole city lost cell service). Verizon was acceptable for low-use data, good for voice, but still 3G.
Note about the rating - if we were there when the park was crowded, it might have been lower.
Crash would stay here again
