A little off the main road and a bit of a rocky drive but very worth it. The wind was strong while we were there but the lake was beautiful and the site was very peaceful.

The dirt road is in normal shape: Some potholes and washboard here and there, but passable by anything. Up to Ring Lake, the road is wider, but south of Ring Lake, the road skinnies down to one lane. Other drivers and folks with horse trailers weren't very considerate on that southern portion of road, so be careful if you venture to the more southern campgrounds.
Yes, there are lots of "No Trespassing" signs because this is a gracious public access road through private ranching property, and some people seem to have a hard time staying off of private property. Respect private property and all will be well.
Unlike most of Wyoming, this spot was unusually calm for the two nights we stayed in October. Other than the wildlife and the occasional sound of vehicles on the access road, it was super quiet. We easily heard the creek rapids from 100 yards away.
We heard owls, and saw loons, Clark's Nutcrackers, and black squirrels during our stay.
We had 1 bar of unusable Verizon 1x service, but that's probably because our Verizon service didn't work anywhere around Dubois. Free WiFi is available at the town park right next to the National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center, and that park is big enough for large equipment. No overnight parking, though.

Stayed as a stopover between Yellowstone and Colorado. Was a few miles off the main road but easy driving in our 32 foot class C RV pulling a Jeep. Sites are mostly right along the lake with fire pits and bear boxes. There’s also a pit toilet. Can’t believe it is free. It was beautiful and quiet. During our stay we visited the Museum of military vehicles which blew us away!! Highly recommend. We did our laundry at the local laundromat in Dubois and treated ourselves to dinner at 2 Z’s BBQ which is a charming rustic cabin set right next to a creek. Food was yummy and beer was cold. Highly recommend!!!

Is six miles from the highway but is the price of quiet and clear sky’s for watching the stars. Very flat locations and great view of Ring Lake.

To have money to enjoy local restaurants on our budget, we really work hard to find suitable free or low priced camping, knowing sometimes that comes with special challenges. That said, the 5 mile drive in on the washboard roller coaster road was to be expected, what wasn't to be expected was the litany of signs from "No Hunting", "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" to signs that read "Stay on Main Road", "Keep Out", "Which Part of No Trespassing Did You Not Understand", and my personal favorite, "Stop Killing Our Cattle", which was complimented with a picture of a dead cow. To wit I reply, at $18.19+ a pound for steak, buy some wire fencing you meatless tycoon. By the time we got to the Campground, I had visions of this off the rails property owner in the bush, gun cocked, just waiting to take a shot. Was almost afraid to walk outside with the dogs.
This area had vault toilet's and bear boxes. Oh, and there was also a nice lake with a great mountain view in the distance. Just don't try getting to it from the west side. Don't worry, you'll see the signs.
If you go further down the road, not only does the barrage of trespassing signs drop away, you'll see a sign with a brown arrow and a road that leads to a couple of sites. Further down still is the boat ramp and beyond that is another area with vault toilets and bear boxes with space for 3 or 4 large trailers.
Our Verizon service worked with 2 bars at 3g but only in the mornings and evenings.

The lake and surrounding hills are beautiful. The road from the highway has a little washboard but is overall in very good shape and I think big boys could handle all aspects of the access and camp area. Only about 3 miles outside of Dubois. The access road takes you about 5 more.

Campground is totally flat grass on the lake with fire pits and decent to very good (with antenna) cellular reception. Drive out from Dubois is on a dirt road. It's fine even for a big trailer to this point. The further you go on the road, the more beautiful the area and the worse the road and the cellular reception.
