There was a vault toilet by the entrance and a portable-potty in the main area. There was plenty of open canopy so the solar system was able to charge and the lake was beautiful. There was easy access to the water if you want to launch paddle boards or kayaks. Everyone had their dogs leashed. We had no problems here and felt safe enough to camp.
We recommended this little campground and will definitely stay here again.

We checked out the 8 hour stay limit area past the camping area over by the water and decided we didn't feel safe staying- despite the "no camping" signs there, there were quite a few tents & camper vans all in bad shape and the review about tweekers from 2018 sounded about right. I'm sure it's fine during high traffic weekends etc but I wouldn't have felt safe staying. We drove a few miles further down the main road & found Taidnapam park which is amazing and not listed on Campendium. Well worth the $37 for a full hook up site to be able to sleep soundly!

This dispersed area is a bird lover's dream site. We saw eagles and ospreys along with vultures and many other birds. The lake is beautiful and there are hang gliders constantly overhead as well. Driftwood is abundant so plenty of fuel for campfires. We saw a truck pull in and pile it high before driving off. Our camping neighbor had a huge bonfire going with two loads of driftwood. At this rate, I’m not sure how anything is left but there are lots of logs there.
The dispersed camping area is small and it is crowded on weekends. The cell service on Verizon isn’t strong enough for the internet.
Verizon: Slow, even with a booster. (less than 1Mps up and down.)
T-mobile: None

My husband, my 5 year old grandson, and I stayed here our first summer 2 year's ago and it was the best time ever. Our grandson learned how to swim, learned about rock hunting, and drift wood and so much more. I would recommend this place to everyone. We met some great families out here as well

It is a large, relatively flat wilderness area - although the roads (tracks?) are slightly bumpy.
On Sunday half a dozen hang gliders were flying off the nearby hill returning to their cars parked here and several families were swimming and kayaking in the lake.
One neighbour, 30 metres away, is an elderly Snowbird who stays here for 2 weeks regularly; another a young couple travelling in an RV for 3 months.
There are several other vehicles closer to the road.
Beautiful spot that feels really safe.
AT&T internet zero to one bar, slow but generally works.

I love that these types of places provide an alternative to homelessness, but push starting a car all night and into the morning, digging through a large pile of garbage bags left behind, looking for anything of value and leaving a bigger mess behind isn't acceptable There's a couple old men living in tents at the porta-potty, making it unusable for others. Rangers really need to raid this place.

“Looks awesome but it’s closed”
noted 3/30/2024
Doesn’t mention when it’ll open
noted 6/11/2020
We stopped by to check this out because everything indicated that it was open, however this spot is definitely closed due to some kind of oil spill or leak near the lake. There's a sign that reads:
"This area will be closed until further notice beginning Nov 29, 2019 due to an environmental review. Walk in access is permitted in all areas outside of the closed area."
