“no obvious place to camp here VERY disappointing read below for dets”

after a long day of "fall chasing" and ready to turn in to sleep at my "free camp site" in trying to fin this road I ended up back in Grand Marais asking directions, and drove the almost 8 miles back to finally find the road (not sign) to journey down it for a mile and NOT see any obvious camping sites,,,I saw some a few right off the ... more

We spent one night here during a trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. No complaints, it was an easy enough to find and get into - we backed a way down what appeared to be an unused logging road for additional privacy & shade. Navigating to the GPS coordinates for this site took us in via Rhody Truck Trail, this route was a little stressful with the trailer in tow. We made it fine without any damage but there was a sandy hill climb involved and the trail definitely required 4WD (while towing).
