We did not stay here. We were camping at Norris Hot Springs Campground down the road but wanted to check this BLM land out for some potential boondocking on the weekend. I'm glad we scouted it out first because while there was plenty of space for a larger camper, the road was kind of rough in a few spots. You don't need four wheel driv... more
We did not stay here. We were camping at Norris Hot Springs Campground down the road but wanted to check this BLM land out for some potential boondocking on the weekend. I'm glad we scouted it out first because while there was plenty of space for a larger camper, the road was kind of rough in a few spots. You don't need four wheel drive, but this is definitely more compatible with a geopro or something simillar. Even a smaller class B could do it, depending on the clearance. Coming from Norris, Sterling Road on the way in was gravel but flat and well maintained. Then turning down the road to the BLM land is where it started to get pretty rough. Super beautiful area and 1-2 bars of Verizon LTE in a some areas, I would definitely come back and camp if I had a smaller setup.

Passing through and needed a place to stay out of Ennis. Unfortunately we got in VERY late and it was dark. Maps brought our 4x4 3500 and 28’ toyhauler in from the South ... strongly discourage big rigs from coming in from the south and instead come in from the north near Norris!!!! The road is rough and very very narrow with sharp upw... more
Passing through and needed a place to stay out of Ennis. Unfortunately we got in VERY late and it was dark. Maps brought our 4x4 3500 and 28’ toyhauler in from the South ... strongly discourage big rigs from coming in from the south and instead come in from the north near Norris!!!! The road is rough and very very narrow with sharp upward rock/walls and a drop on the opposite side, through in dark and it gets worse.
The north entrance is better, but it too has a rough stretch or two. Strongly recommend 4x4. Once There, it’s amazing with beautiful views and lots and lots of free camping. There are no water sources that we found.

Overall Rating
Revenue Flats is one of the best camping locations in southern Montana. Free as heck and feel free to camp wherever you want. Tough terrain on small or extra large vehicles so pack light. Bring climbing gear and your dirt bike. Dry camping.
