Since 9/2020 it’s illegal to camp here. Signs posted everywhere, rangers patrol occasionally. You are not allowed to camp on the river side of the road leading to the site, but you can camp on the other side. There are multiple spacious pulloffs.
ALSO. the hot springs are a nudist spot. if that’s your thing, enjoy, but prepare to see some naked old men.

We arrived on Sunday evening at which point the parking lot for the hot springs was packed (100 cars or so), which was unexpected. So we camped in a nice, large pull out along the road with a shade tree just southwest of the parking location. We had our own trail to the river, but the hot springs themselves are quite small (seating for less than 20 comfortably) and folks seem to be oblivious to the covid19 pandemic so social distancing isn't really an option unfortunately. If loud death metal and chugging bud light platinum is not your jam, I'd recommend going down before 8am on a weekday and you should have the pools to yourself. Location itself is beautiful perched above the raging Kern River and most of the folks staying overnight tend to be friendly; however the day trippers and a few folks blasting bad trance music on Monday night made our stay less than perfect. Also, there are more beautiful and secluded pull offs further west along the road, but cell service/data was only available proximate to the Remington hot springs parking lot with good speeds for remote work if needed!
