I had an absolutely amazing time here. It was my first time camping solo in a National Park and I was a little nervous. I showed up with barely any sunlight left. I was able to find a spot pretty easily. I loved my site because it was set far back away from the road. You could still see and hear the cars but I didn’t get all the dust f... more

“Good for a quick weekend trip”

I found this site for a weekend Ren Fair getaway with friends. It's surprisingly difficult to find camping areas close to Larkspur Renaissance festival. After looking at the location and general reviews, this seemed promising. There is definitely a sliding scale in terms of quality sites down this road. This is a great, easily traveled... more

Take 285 to CR 126 at Pine ... then go for a few miles until the sneaky turn off onto 550 which is the road you'll camp on. It's an easy drive in off the paved road... lots of hills and hairpin turns... more

“You just kinda wasted all my precious time...”

This is a seemingly endless road, washboard but nothing you couldn't handle even with a large RV or trailer, that winds back forever. We made it to site #32 (even though it's "dispersed", free boondocking, there are still numbered sites) and were maybe 1/3rd of the distance to the end of the road. No Verizon in our spot or during m... more
