“Sunset Over Tucson”

Reviewed May 24, 2019

Overall Rating

We camped here after adjusting our route to avoid bad weather at the Grand Canyon on May 20th. First, we hiked to Tanque Verde Falls, which was dry, but it was still a great hike. After leaving the trailhead, we kept going east and passed by a group of marines that appear to be maintaining the road, which is in pretty good shape for an... more

“Roadside spots near Saguaro NP East”

Reviewed Mar 21, 2019

Overall Rating

Finding a camping spot in March takes some luck. Lots of folks boondocking in the bigger spots so people squeeze into what’s left: small roadside spots with varying degrees of level ground. We found a small spot that fit our car and a couple of chairs, and that was about it. Gorgeous views of sunset over Tucson, saguaros all around. Fa... more

Watched one of the most gorgeous sunsets Ive ever seen, but then the sun went down. A fairly big group of partiers showed up and stayed until 3. A few drivers flew by super fast up th... more

“Great hiking and swimming”

Reviewed Jan 14, 2017

Overall Rating

Tanque Verde Falls is the main attraction here. There's a nude beach at the end of one trail. Some pools are just big enough to go for a swim. Some idiots jump from the cliffs into the pools. There are some small water snakes here, which I believe are harmless. This place is a flash flood danger, and over the years many people have... more

“Not a bad spot for FREE! Scenic trails. Not for Motorhomes! High clearance vehicles recommended. ”

San Pedro River Road, AKA Redington Road, AKA Redington Pass. While part of the Coronado Forrest, is not just a dirt road that leads through the pass. The first mile or so is usually accessible by any vehicle, after that you better have a 4WD pickup, jeep, or other SUV with a bit of ground clearance. Steep hills and switchbacks, la... more
