“Not Worth The horrible Road”

The other reviews were not exaggerating about the roads. I made it with my 25ft rv but it was ROUGH.
Pretty sunset but constant ATVs driving around at all hours. No privacy.
The next morning a random car parked right next to my rv (at one of the sites not the parking area) and then walked somewhere. Not worth it in my opinion.

I can't imagine a better spot to watch a sunset and thankfully the road is just crappy enough to keep it from being totally packed. I would not pull a camper up here, there are sharp turns and the road is pretty steep. I didn't need to turn my 4WD on and the lower spots were definitely van accessible but I'd be hesitant to drive a low car up here.
The 2 big downsides were the size of the spots and the amount of broken glass at each site. I was more concerned my dogs would cut their paws on the glass than I was about the abundance of cacti around. Most of the sites are really small, just big enough to park your vehicle so not ideal if you have dogs or kids that need a little wander room. If you continue up the road to the very top of the hill there are 2 large spots that could accommodate a few vehicles and give you space for your dogs. I didn't go further past this as the shooting restriction ends and it also looked like it was leveling out and I didn't want to lose the view.
Oh, and it was wicked windy all night! I'd be curious to know if the wind was less intense down the hill because it was rocking my truck all night at the top of the hill. Thankfully it died down in the morning but it kept up from sunset to sunrise.
Lastly, I camped here on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and arrived at sunset and there wasn't many sites to choose from that late in the day. I can imagine this place is packed on the weekends

We had a great stay here and also went on some walks. Our 29 foot RV made it fine and we saw a 32+ foot Skoolie at the top. One of the turns we had to reverse a bit because it was so tight though! The road is windy and one tight 5mph corner then turns to gravel… well not gravel more like dirt with very big bumps.
Camping is sparse more suitable for vans.
Lots of traffic on the road all night long (spent Thursday night.)

Nice free spot not too far from the city. Can get noisy during the day and especially weekends but nighttime is peaceful and you have a nice view of the town below lit up and the stars in night sky. However, if you don’t mind driving the extra distance, checkout dispersed camping at Mt. Lemmon. Much better!

Very loud and busy during the day and tons of trash which is sad. But the sunset views were beautiful and it was peaceful at night. We cleaned up as much as we could. Cannot believe people are just trashing such beautiful camping area.

There were only probably 5 other campers at most but all pretty spread out so it was pretty quiet. The drive up is gorgeous but it turns into a curvy dirt road that’s super rough so big vehicles be wary. There’s the Tanque Verde Falls trailhead right down the road as well, it’s a gorgeous hike! Would definitely stay here again!

The road getting in is pretty rough yet we made it with our 26foot class A, with a toad. Disconnect as soon as you hit the dirt. Only 10 miles from Saguaro NP East visitors center! Again very busy day use area. A few very nice hikes in the area one with a beautiful waterfall!

Great views, camped amidst saguaros, quick access to the Park. Great spot. Some traffic through the night, lots of garbage but that seems to be the case. LEAVE NO TRACE, people. It isn’t hard. Our public lands are not your garbage bin.
Worth it but recommend getting in before dark!! ;)
