Red Rock Marina Campground

Decided to stay because it was one of the info centers on Superior Circle Tour. The Visitor Center is new, and has an nice Interpretation Exhibit costing $3 per person. They have a walking tour of town highlights, but not super interesting as everything dates from the 1940’s or 50’s. They charge $30 to park in their lot, and it’s a big lot. We parked near the marina, and of course, someone else parked 1 meter behind us. Lots of traffic until about 11pm and starts up again just before sunrise. Nice showers for $4 extra. The staff were friendly. But the whole place just gave off a vibe of soaking any tourists who wandered in.

Town has improved its recreational area with new buildings, washrooms and laundry facilities and showers. Playground for visiting children, camp park at your choice of undesignated places within the park.

Locals like to drive through and visit, dog friendly and plenty of dog walkers that are well tended to. No waste or garbage around.

Red Rock is small town on the shores of Lake Superior's Nipigon Bay. The town is quiet and off the beaten track, the local industry (rock crushing) can be noisy at times. But, camping in the marina parking lot makes the experience enjoyable. The marina has mainly sport fishing boats and th people are very friendly and helpful.

It has been several years since stopping here, but I doubt much has changed. The nearest town for services would be Nipigon.

The signage marking the route to Red Rock is not well marked. The road to town is just west of Nipigon. Be watchful for the turn.
