“best campground on our roadtrip ”

Reviewed Jul 25, 2018

The road is very easy to find. We tented and drove a Kia Optima. After reading some of the soft sand reviews we were almost deleted from staying here. I’m thankful we took the chance because we got to stay in such a gorgeous area. We slept on soft sand off the side of the road about 0.6 miles away from the road entrance. At this mileag... more

“VERY soft sand!”

First and foremost, the 1/4 mile distance from main road is heavily enforced. The distance is measured 'as the crow flies' and NOT by the driving distance from the turn off. We had a chat with a park ranger who asked us to please include this information in any reviews we may write and told us that park rangers will not hesitate to g... more

“Quiet, beautiful—the best of boondocking!”

This place is AMAZING. I had such a good experience here—there were other campers but everyone stayed out of each other’s bubble. The scenery around here is STUNNING. I went up and around the bend, further up as far as my Toyota Itasca would take me, and parked on the side of the road. Me and my two dogs ran around up in the gorgeous g... more

“Beautiful views, extremely quiet & comfy ”

This site is off the beaten path, however, it is absolutely gorgeous! After all the other nearby campgrounds were booked we decided to “drop anchor” here and see what it’s about. It’s dry camping so there are no hookups. It’s free and it’s scenic.

“7 March 18. Quiet. Close to lake Powell and antelope canyon. ”

The road is very rough at first. Then it splits off to the left. That road is even worse. Keep going straight and at the top of the hill are a couple nice spots. The road turns into deep soft sand within another 1/8 mile.

“Scope it out before...”

We brought our 32’ airstream to this site and if we had more common sense we probably wouldn’t have done it ;). We didn’t understand how hard it would be until we were already half way up. You have to camp 1/4 mile from the highway. The road is sandy and has several huge potholes. We navigated around the potholes but did get our t... more
