One was threaded the other was not.

I dont know for sure...I would call Custer Gallatinranger district in Gardiner and ask!

Yes, it is threaded.

The water fill is across from the dumpsters and yes, it's threaded. Closest dump station is in Bozeman or West Yellowstone though. :(
