We camped on the second road. However, we could have also found some spots on the first. The 3rd road we wouldn’t have been able to clear the entrance of the road with our rig. Honestly only a few sites available for “big rig”. The site we picked barley accommodated us but we made it work for the view even though we are not exactly level. We arrived on a Friday around 10am and there were plenty spots but again limited spots for RV. Beautiful views and it was worth it for us to try in our big rig.

The day we arrived at this campsite we drove from Kansas at around 2K feet. The 7K plus altitude difference gave us a bit of a challenge with breathing. However, the views are absolutely stunning. We had a clear view of pikes peak, along with privacy and a big site. We had a fire pit as well. There are a number of campsites to choose from along this road, so if one is taken don't fret. Rampart ridge road was pretty washboard at the time (mid sept 2022), and the road to our particular campsite was quite washed out and required us to really pay attention. Not all sites are like that though. If you are here I highly recommend driving rampart range road down into CO springs/garden of the gods. The views are amazing!!

We camped here our DIY camper van. The road once you leave the pavement is heavily washboarded. There are two short roads to the west of the main road with dispersed camping sites. Great views of the sunset and Pikes Peak. There were 3 or 4 others in our area, but there is plenty of room to spread out.

Hard road ends and dirt is somewhat washboard. Go slow and don’t turn around. The views are worth the slow drive. It isn’t far so be patient!

“Too many inconsiderate yuppies”
noted 7/22/2023
Was nice and peaceful until the inconsiderate Yuppies parked where we were camped to go hiking on some trail.
“Just a head’s up”

We had planned to stay here, and hope to sometime, but the Official Website for this area says that Rampart Road is CLOSED annually between April 1st and May 31st for ‘Mud Season.’ You may want to check road conditions and closures before making plans!
I wasn’t sure how to rate it other than Access, so it gets 5 starts otherwise, because I imagine it is beautiful.
