“Very pleasant stay”

We arrived Saturday evening to a crowded park. The sites are closer than we like but overall there was a reasonable amount of space. A few of the sites have full hook-ups (those same sites also have full sun). We were in a pop-up camper. Our site had electricity and water. We recommend filtering the water for taste.

We used the the campground as a hub and ventured into the NC mountains during the day. The park gates are closed and locked from 10pm until 8am. This limited some of our activities - specifically a rafting trip where participants were required to be at the rafting business at 8am. We asked but the park was not willing to meet us early and let us out. As a result, we found another rafting company and used them instead.

On the weekend there was quite a bit of loud partying at many sites throughout the park, especially in the lower area with sites on the lake. By Monday we had the place almost to ourselves. The showers have warm water with a push button activator. The water pressure is excellent. The inside of the shower house is not notably clean. It is in need of power-washing, a fresh coat of paint, and a few mechanical repairs. The rest of the campground was clean and well-maintained.

There is a laundry facility with one washer and one dryer. The employees were friendly. The lake is quite nice with easy access for swimming (but no lifeguards). The location is great for day trips into the far western corner of NC. The elevation is high enough to keep the daytime temps at around 80F-82F in late August. We ran the a/c for a brief period of time on a couple of days. At night we kept the windows open and slept soundly under light comforters.

“Lovely hidden gem on beautiful Glenville Lake in the mountains.”

A sweet spot and very few people here when we camped in October just before it closes for the season. If you paddle bring your kayak/canoe this is a wonderful place. Small county campground well maintained. No frills, but bathroom and showers are clean. No noise as we practically had the place to ourselves. I imagine if it's full it may not be so quiet. 19.00 for electric site, 15.00 for primitive non-electric.
